Abstract

In this paper, the universities in Turkey are ranked with respect to the performance of scientific research project conducted by professors. The performance is measured by the productivity and efficiency of scientific research project. The productivity is estimated by using Data Envelopment Analysis and Malmquist Total Factor Productivity index. In order to define the efficiency numerically, a project performance factor (pp-factor) which is a novel method is developed. The universities are scored by pp-factor utilizes the research project data and modeled mathematically. The project data used in this study includes the number of professor employed by the university, the number of project proposed by the university, the number of accepted project and the amount of income received by university for years between 2011 and 2015. Consequently, as a result of the productivity analysis, 26, 55, 55 and 17 universities are increased their productivity -compared to the previous year- in 2012, 20
