Abstract
Asbest sıcaklığa, aşınmaya ve kimyasallara karşı çok mukavementli bir mineraldir. Bu nedenle yüzyıllardır birçok alanda kullanılmıştır. Yakın tarihte ise, hem yalıtım malzemesi olarak hem de çimentoyla karışık olarak yapılarda kullanılmıştır. Bu yüzyılın başında; asbestin solunum yolları üzerindeki ölümcül etkisinin saptanması nedeniyle birçok ülkede kullanımı yasaklanmıştır. Buna paralel olarak ülkemizde de asbest tamamen yasaklanmıştır. Fakat yasaklanmadan önce kullanılmış olan asbestin zararları hala devam etmektedir. Asbestle mücadele; çevresel asbestin zararlarından korunma çalışmalarıyla ve daha önceden kullanılmış olan asbestli ürünlerin sökülmesiyle sürdürülmektedir. Bu çalışmalar yapılırken yapılarda var olan asbestin sökülmesi sırasında iş sağlığı ve güvenliği bakımından yaşanabilecek tehlike ve riskleri bilmek gerekir. Ayrıca bu bağlamda asbestin güvenli bir şekilde sökülebilmesi için gerekli tedbirlerin alınması da şarttır. Asbest sökümü yapılırken kişisel koruyucu donanım giyilmesi, çalışan personelin eğitilmesi ve sökülen asbestin uygun şekilde bertaraf edilmesi gerekir. Aksi takdirde asbest maruziyeti başta çalışanlar olmak üzere çevredeki insanlarda sağlık sorunlarına yol açacaktır. 1960’lı yıllardan itibaren asbest ülkemizde bolca kullanılmıştır. Asbest ülkemizde yasaklandıktan sonra ise binalarda ve değişik yapılarda bulunan asbestli malzemeler sökülmeye başlanmıştır. Söküm sırasındaki tehlikelerden etkilenmemek için eğitimli personele ve asbest bertaraf tesislerine büyük iş düşmektedir.

While carrying out these studies, it is necessary to know the dangers and risks that may be experienced in terms of occupational health and safety during the removal of asbestos existing in the buildings. In addition, in this context, it is essential to take the necessary precautions for the safe removal of asbestos. While removing asbestos, it is necessary to wear personal protective equipment, train the working personnel and properly dispose of the removed asbestos. Otherwise, exposure to asbestos will cause health problems, especially for workers and people around. Asbestos has been used extensively in our country since the 1960s. After asbestos was banned in our country, asbestos materials in buildings and different structures started to be removed. In order not to be affected by the dangers during dismantling, trained personnel and asbestos disposal facilities have a great job.
