Abstract
Okul sosyal hizmeti, öğrencilerin okul yaşamını etkileyen sorunların çözümünde öğrenciyi çevresi içinde değerlendiren, akademik yaşantılarının yanı sıra fiziksel ve duygusal ihtiyaçlarına da odaklanan ve eğitim-öğretim sürecinden eşit bir şekilde yararlanmasını sağlayan sosyal hizmet mesleğinin uygulama alanlarından biridir. Okul sosyal hizmeti dünyanın pek çok ülkesinde uygulanmakta ve bu kapsamda okullarda sosyal hizmet uzmanları istihdam edilmektedir. Arabulucu, danışman, vaka yöneticisi ve savunucu gibi farklı roller üstlenen okul sosyal hizmet uzmanları öğrencilerin sorunlarını çözebilmek, eğitimin niteliğini artırabilmek ve okul iklimini güçlendirebilmek için mikro, mezzo ve makro düzeyde müdahaleler yürütmektedir. Öğrencileri etkileyen her türlü bireysel, ailesel ve sosyal sorunlarla ilgilenen okul sosyal hizmeti uygulamasına Türkiye’de henüz resmi düzeyde geçilememiştir. Türkiye’de okul sosyal hizmetinin gerekliliğine ve hayata geçirilmesine yönelik projeler gerçekleştirilmesine, akademik çalışmalar yürütülmesine ve üniversitelerde birimler kurulmasına rağmen okul sosyal hizmet uzmanları istihdam edilememiştir. Bu çalışmada okul sosyal hizmet uzmanlarının rol ve görevlerine, okul sosyal hizmet tarihine değinilmiş olup Türkiye’de okul sosyal hizmeti uygulamasına geçilebilmesi adına yapılan çalışmalar incelenerek çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Abstract
School social work is one of the practice fields of the social work profession, which evaluates students within their environment in solving the problems affecting their school life. It focuses on their physical and emotional needs as well as their academic lives, and ensures that they benefit equally from the education and training process. School social work is implemented in many countries of the world and within this scope, social workers are employed in schools. School social workers, who play different roles such as mediator, counselor, case manager and advocate, carry out micro, mezzo and macro-level interventions to solve students' problems, increase the quality of education and strengthen the school climate. The practice of school social work, which deals with all kinds of individual, family and social problems affecting students, has not yet been officially implemented in Türkiye. Although projects have been carried out, academic studies have been carried out and units have been established in universities for the necessity and implementation of school social work in Türkiye, school social workers have not been employed. In this study, the roles and duties of school social workers, the history of school social work are touched upon, and various suggestions are made by examining the studies carried out to practice school social work in Türkiye.
