BESİN ALERJİSİ OLAN ÇOCUKLARIN EBEVEYNLERİNİN İNTERNET VE SOSYAL MEDYA KULLANIM ÖZELLİKLERİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Besin alerjisi her yaş grubundan insanın etkilendiği önemli bir sağlık problemidir. Araştırma besin alerjisi olan çocukların ebeveynlerinin internet ve sosyal medya kullanım özelliklerinin incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tipteki araştırmanın örneklemini Facebook sosyal medya platformu üzerinden besin alerjili çocuk sahibi 104 ebeveyn oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri veri toplama formu kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Ebeveynler besin alerjisi ile ilgili en sık Facebook (%94.2) ve Instagram (%45.2) sosyal medya sitelerini kullanmaktadır. Ebeveynlerin %90.4’ü benzer durumları yaşayan kişilerden görüş alma, %63.5’i başka bir tedavi şekli olup olmadığını öğrenmek amacıyla, %35.6’sı ise sağlık çalışanlarından gerekli bilgi ve eğitimi alamaması nedeniyle internet/sosyal medya sitelerini kullanmakta ve bu sitelerden edinilen bilgiler hastaneye başvurmasını (%40.4) etkilemektedir.  Hastaneye başvurmadan önce %29.8’i edindiği fikirleri denemekte ve sağlık personelinden tedavinin bu yönde düzenlenmesini talep etmektedir.  Ebeveynlerin %73.1’i internetten/sosyal medyadan aldıkları tavsiyeleri faydalı bulmaktadır. Sağlık personelinden aldığı eğitim sonrasında sağlık personeline ulaşmanın zor olması (%61.5) ve eğitim sonrasında aklına gelen soruları soramama (%52.9) nedenleriyle sağlık personelinden aldığı eğitimleri mutlaka internetten araştırdığını (%78.8) belirtmişlerdir. Besin alerjisi gibi hastalıkların tedavi ve yönetimine ilişkin sürekli, ulaşılabilir danışma ve destek birimlerinin oluşturulması, sosyal medyada kullanılan sitelerde yer alan bilgilerin sağlık kuruluşları bağlantılarıyla paylaşılması ve sağlık çalışanlarının bu konuda farkındalıklarının arttırılması önerilmektedir.

Abstract

Food allergy is a significant health problem that affects people of all age groups. The aimed to examine the internet and social media usage characteristics of the parents of children with food allergies. The sample of the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 104 parents having food allergy children, via Facebook social media platform. A data collection form was used for data collection. Parents most frequently use Facebook (94.2%) and Instagram (45.2%) social media sites related to food allergy. The parents have been using the internet and social media to get opinions from people with similar conditions (90.4%), to find out if there is another form of treatment (63.5%), because they cannot get the necessary information and training from healthcare workers (35.6%). These obtained from social media sites’ information affect his hospital admission (40.4%). Before applying to the hospital, 29.8% of them try out the ideas they have acquired and demand that the treatment be regulated in this way. The parents find the recommendations useful (73.1%). After being trained by the healthcare personnel, parents have stated that they absolutely searched the training they received from healthcare personnel on the internet (78.8%) because of getting difficulties to reach healthcare personnel (61.5%), not being able to ask questions that come to mind after the training (52.9%). It is recommended to establish continuous, accessible counseling and support units for the treatment and management of diseases such as food allergies, to share the information on the sites used in social media with the connections of health institutions, and to increase the awareness of health personnel on this issue.
