Abstract
Mili Mücadele döneminde, devrin şartlarında yaşanılan olaylara karşı tedbir almak ihtiyacından kurulan İstiklal mahkemeleri, verdiği kararlar bakımından Cumhuriyet Tarihi için önemli bir yer teşkil etmektedir. Özellikle Ankara İstiklal Mahkemesi’nin, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Paşa’ya suikast tertibi olarak görülen İzmir Suikastı davasında verdiği kararlar, dönemin siyasi yapısını anlamak açısından önemlidir. Milli Mücadele döneminde askeri ve siyasi faaliyetleriyle ün yapmış paşaların bu mahkemede yargılanmış olmaları, İzmir Suikastı davasının önemini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışmada, İzmir Suikastı davasında yargılanan kişilerin hatıraları ile konunun basına yansıyan tarafları göz önünde bulundurularak bir değerlendirme yapılmaya çalışılmıştır.
