Abstract
Günümüzde oldukça popüler olan futbolun ilk nerede ve ne zaman ortaya çıktığı bilinmese de, geçmişte birçok medeniyet tarafından, bu sporun farklı amaçlarla oynandığı bilinmektedir. Bu toplumlardan, ikisi de Aztek ve Maya toplumudur. Diğer toplumlardan farklı olarak bu iki toplumda oyun sonucunda kaybeden taraf kurban edilmekteydi. Aztek medeniyetinde top oynanan alan, ''tlacbitli'' yada ''tlacbco'' olarak adlandırılırken, futbol oyunu ise ''ullamaliztli'' olarak adlandırılmıştır. Aztek medeniyetinde futbol oyunu yaklaşık olarak 30 ile 65 metre uzunluğundaki sahalarda oynanmaktaydı. Futbol oyunu sırasında sporcular bedenlerinin çeşitli bölgelerine deriden yapılan materyaller takmaktaydılar. Deriden yapılan materyaller sporcuların bedenlerini topun darbelerinden korumaktaydı. Maya toplumunda futbol oyunu pok-a-tok olarak adlandırılmıştır. Pok-a-tok hakkındaki bilgiler, döneme ait futbol sahsının duvarlarından, dini resimlerden ve yazılı bazı kaynaklardan elde edilmiştir. Diğer toplumlardan farklı olarak Aztek ve Maya medeniyetlerinde yapılan futbol karşılaşmalarından sonra kaybeden takım oyuncuları kurban edilmekteydi. Yapılan bu çalışmanın amacı, Aztek ve Maya toplumlarındaki futbol anlayışını ortaya koymaktadır. Bunun için yapılan literatür taramasında sınırlı sayıda Türkçe kaynakla karşılaşılmıştır. Konuyla ilgili yapılan Türkçe ve Yabancı kaynakların incelenmesi sonucunda, bu iki büyük medeniyette bu spora, kozmolojik ve dini anlamlar yüklendiği anlaşılmıştır.

Though it is not known where and when the football game, which is very popular in our time,first appeared.It is known that it has been played by many civilizations for different purposes. Two of these societies are Aztec and Maya societies. Different from the other societies,the team ,which lose the game, was used to sacrified in this society. In Aztec Civilisation, the field, where the football played, had been named as “tlacbitli” or “tlacbco” and football game had been named as “ullamaliztli”In Aztec Civilisation, football game was being played on approximetly 30 to 65 meter lenght fields. During the football game, players was wearing leather materials to certain parts of their bodies. Those leather materials were protecting their bodies against the hit of the ball. In Maya Society, football game wasw named as pok-atok.The informations related to Pok-a-tok, has been acquired from the walls of the football field belong to that time, religious pictures and some written sources.Unlike other societies, In Maya and Aztec Civilisations, The loser team players were being sacrificed after the match The aim of this research is to present the futball understanding in Aztec and Maya societies. During the literature scan for this, restricted number of Turkish resource has been found. Duting the examining of Turkish and foreign resources. It has been understood that in these great two civilizations, cosmological and religious meanings have been given to this sport.
