Abstract
Son yılların popüler turizm dallarından biri olan eğitim turizmi, ağırlıklı olarak öğrencilerin belirli bir sahada kendilerini geliştirmek, meslek edinmek ve kariyer yapmak amacıyla belirli bir bölgeye ya da ülkeye gitmeleri ile gerçekleşen yeni bir turizm dalıdır. Bu da ülke ekonomilerine yeni bir iş alanı sağlamaktadır. Ulaşım, konaklama, beslenme, eğitim, eğlence, gezi, seyahat, sağlık gibi pek çok sektöre gelir sağlayabilecek bu iş alanı ülkemizde yeteri kadar diğer gelişmiş ülkelerdeki gibi üst seviyeye ulaşmamıştır. Hatta bu “eğitim turizmi” kavramı alanyazında ülkemizde üzerinde ciddi anlamda çalışma yapılmamış bir konudur. Bu çalışmada eğitim turizminin küresel boyutta ekonomik büyüklükleri ve gelecekteki durumu incelenmiş, giderek artan bir öneme sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Ülkemiz açısından yapılan değerlendirmede ise henüz eğitim turizmine yapılması gereken çalışmaların olumlu anlamda gerçekleşmediği belirlenmiştir.

Abstract
Educational tourism, one of the most popular tourism branches in recent years, is a new tourism branch that takes place for students by travelling to a specific region or a country to develop themselves in a specific field, to have a job or to make a career. This provides their country’s economy with a new business space. This business space that could provide lots of sectors such as transportation, accommodation, education, entertainment, travelling, health, nourishment and trip with income hasn’t reached an upper level in our country compared to that in developed countries. Furthermore, this “educational tourism” concept is a topic that has not been well studied in our country in literature. In this study, economical size and status in future of educational tourism were viewed in global scale and it was seen it had a gradually increasing importance. On the other hand, it was found out that, in the evaluation in terms of our country, studies regarding with educational tourism has not positively been conducted.
