Abstract
Duygunun ve biçimin aşırı abartılmasına karşı çıkıp nesnelliği ve sadeliği öven bir akım olan Minimalizm, kendini ilk olarak heykel sanatında göstermiştir. Dönemin en yenilikçi sanatçıları arasında sayılan Carl Andre, Minimalist heykel anlayışıyla bu akımın en önemli isimlerinden biri olmuştur. Andre, heykel sonsuz bakış açısı sunmalı, sadece bakılan bir şey olmamalı diyerek minimalist heykelin nasıl olması gerektiğini tanımlamıştır. Sanat eserlerinin hep duvarlara asılmasına tepki olarak, Eşdeğer VIII çalışmasıyla, yer zeminini kullanarak vurgulaması önemlidir. Biçim olarak heykel, yapı olarak heykel, mekan olarak heykel anlayışından yola çıktığını söyleyerek, heykelin sergilendiği mekanlarında yeniden tanımlanmasını önermiştir. Eserlerinde malzeme olarak bakır, çinko plakaları, ahşap, demiri nesnelerin yapısını bozmadan yer düzleminde yatay-dikey olarak kullanması minimalist heykel anlayışına farklı bir özellik katmıştır. Andre’nin sanatı hem Kuzey Amerika’da hem de Batı Avrupa’daki pek çok heykel sanatçıları için bir referans noktası haline gelmiş. Sanatçılar eserlerini Andre’nin koyduğu ilkelerden etkilenerek inşa etmişlerdir.

Abstract
Minimalism, a movement that opposes the excessive exaggeration of feelings and form and praises objectivity and simplicity, first manifested itself in the art of sculpture. Carl Andre, one of the most innovative artists of the period, has become one of the most important names of this movement with his Minimalist sculpture. Andre, the sculpture has to offer an infinite viewpoint, just how it should be looked at the definition of how the minimalist statue should be. In response to the hanging of works of art always on the walls, it is important to emphasize using the ground floor with the work of Equivalent VIII. As a form of sculpture, sculpture as a structure, saying that the way from the sense of sculpture as a place, the sculpture has been proposed to redefine the spaces exhibited. The use of copper, zinc plates, wood, and iron objects horizontally and vertically on the ground without disturbing the structure of the objects adds a different feature to the minimalist sculpture. Andre's art has become a reference point for many sculptors in both North America and Western Europe. The artists built their works by being inspired by the principles of Andre's.
