Abstract
Tanzimat Fermanı’nın ilanıyla birlikte toplumda meydana gelen sosyal değişme ve yenileşme, toplumsal yaşamın bir aynası olduğu kabul edilen edebiyatımıza da yansımıştır. Yepyeni bir dünya ile tanışan toplum, yepyeni tipler oluşturmakta gecikmez. Tanzimat ile birlikte kültür dünyamıza giren Batılı aydın tipi, devrin tüm romancılarında kendine yer bulmuştur. Cumhuriyet Dönemi Türk Edebiyatı’nın çok sevilen ve çok okunan yazarlarından biri olan Reşat Nuri Güntekin de birçok eserinde aydın tipler yaratmış ve bu tipler vasıtasıyla okuyucularını yönlendirmeyi hedeflemiştir. Kendisi de bir Cumhuriyet aydını ve realist bir yazar olarak yaşadığı sıkıntıları, güçlü gözlem yeteneğiyle ele aldığı tipleri başarıyla okuyuculara aktarmıştır. Reşat Nuri Güntekin’in romanlarında aydın tipler birçok ortak özelliklere sahiptir. Dolayısıyla yazarın aydın tanımı, bu ortak özelliklerde kendini belli eder. Bu çalışmada aydın kavramı, Reşat Nuri Güntekin’in hangi romanlarında hangi karakterleri aydın olarak belirlediği, bu aydın tiplerin özellikleri ve fonksiyonları, yazarın bu aydın kahramanları işlemesindeki amacı irdelenecektir.

Abstract
The innovation and social changes on society which came out with the declaration of Edict of Gülhane, reflected to our literature which was accepted as a mirror of social life. The society which meets with a very new world doesn’t get late to create new types. The western intellectuals who join to our culture world with Tanzimat, find place in period’s authors. Reşat Nuri Güntekin who is one of the most read and favorite author in Republic Period of Turkish Literature, has created intellectual characters in his many works and aimed to direct his readers via these characters. As a Republican Literate and a realistic author, he has successfully quoted the troubles he experienced and the characters he addressed through his strong observational talent to the readers. In Reşat Nuri Güntekin’s novels, the intellectual characters have many features in common. Therefore the defination of literate of the author manifests itself in these common features. In this study, the concept of literate, the fact that Reşat Nuri Güntekin determines which characters in his novels as an intellectual, the functions and features of these intellectual characters, and the aim of handling these intellectual characters will be examined.
