Abstract
Manas Destanı, Kırgızların millî destanıdır. Manas Destanı, Kırgızların dış düşmanları olan Kalmuklar ve Çinliler ile yaptıkları savaşları ve kendi içlerindeki mücadeleleri anlatmaktadır. Destanda anlatılan eski Türk hayatı dikkate alınırsa, Manas Destanı'nın sadece Kırgız Türklerinin değil bütün Türklüğün ortak bir kültür ürünü olduğu görülecektir. Destan, Orta Asya Türk tarihi ve medeniyetine ait hatıraları da ihtiva etmektedir. Türk sözlü kültür ürünlerinin pek çoğunda yer bulan alkış ve kargışlar, Türk kültürünün temel eserlerinde önemli yer tutar. Türk halk kültüründe halk inanışlarının, büyülerin, kargışların ve yakarışların önemli bir yeri vardır. Zengin bir halk edebiyatı vücuda getirmiş olan Türk milletinin, zaman zaman değişmeler göstererek, geçmişten günümüze kadar taşıdığı çeşitli konu ve temalarda binlerce alkış ve kargışı mevcuttur. Bu makalede Manas Destanı’nda alkış ve kargışların kullanımları incelenecektir.

Abstract
The epic of Manas is the national epic of the Kyrgyz. The Epic of Manas narrates the wars that the Kyrgyz made with their foreign enemies, Kalmyks and the Chinese, and their domestic struggles. Considering the old Turkish life narrated in the epic, it is seen that the Epic of Manas is a product of the culture of not only the Kyrgyz but all Turkic peoples. The epic involves recollections of Central Asian Turkish history and civilizations, as well. Applauses and imprecations, found in most of the products of Turkish oral literature, have a significant place in the main pieces of Turkish culture. Folk wisdoms, magics, imprecations and applauses have an important place in Turkish folk culture. The Turkish nation which has created a rich folk literature, has thousands of applauses and imprecations in various topic and themes, which it has brought from past to present, showing changes from time to time.
