The other, is a different person, who has one or more features not belonging to the group. The group considers itself as the norm and judges those, who do not meet this norm, as "the other" in any way. Othering (becoming other and making other) reveals negative consequences both in the public aspect and in the individual. The aim of this study is to develop a tool, that measures the distance between persons in terms of as social class, lifestyle, religious belief, political opinion, sexual orientation. Created for this purpose the "Emotional Distance Towards The Other" scale is valid and reliable with its two-dimensional (x2 / SD = 4.62; RMSEA = .10, CFI = .93; NNF U = .93; NF = .92; SRM = .11, α = .95,. 94) and four-dimensional (x2 / sd = 3.67; RMSEA = .012; CFI = .94; NNFI = .93; NFI = .90; SRMR = .09; α = .83, .87) structure. In addition, the scale was tested with the Universality-Difference Scale and a compatibility was observed. The scale of emotional distance towards the other with its flexibility, is to be used in researches, especially in the field of social psychology, to measure the distances between persons in terms of their beliefs and lifestyles.

After accepting the Islamic religion, it is impossible for the Turks to abandon their traditions, customs and ancient civilizations and life completely and to leave the Islamic civilization and society without any influence. After the Turks accepted Islam, they synthesized Islamic principles with their old religious beliefs, and the madrasa based on high-level scientific principles brought about a new understanding of Islam called the Turkish people's understanding of Islam, apart from Islam. There are great parallels between the social, political and daily life practices of the ancient Turks that we can follow both from the stone books and from the Chinese sources and from the Seljuk revolutionary Turkish folk culture. The desire of the Turks to reach Tengri, while bringing the old shrine to the river, continued to turn into a mystic if it was new. Moreover, it attracts attention because it is a national choice, because the Turks; in many religious systems they have entered, they have shown a great desire to reach the Divine. In doing so, they used different cultural instruments and rituals. Among the shamanist beliefs that emerged in the later period was a special place to believe in fear, nightmares, fortune, lyrical, believing in nature powers, ancestors, stone, water and other powers.

Adorno finds the possibility of a critical, progressive and dialectical musical thought consistent with his own aesthetic theory in the atonal and dodecaphonic music that Schoenberg and the composers gathered around him in the first half of the 20th century constructed with a "new" thought. As of the 20th century, Adorno expresses this new musical understanding as a possibility of music away from the consumption culture, in the face of tonal music, which is regarded as a bundle of commodity fetish products in the cultural industry and mass culture. According to Adorno, the centuries-long traditions and ancestral forms of musical production must be transformed into "new" musical forms that are intrinsic to societal and historical demand and willingness. It is a social necessity to shift to tonal music which is consumed easily in the music industry, turned to habits and turned into commodity, and to the atonal music which is a reaction to all these consumption habits. Adorno has shown the work of Schoenberg as the greatest representative of the new music and his teacher, Alban Berg, as a complete example of his musical theory. According to Adorno, Berg's music has important links with his dialectic, progressive and new musical understanding. Adorno relate the technical and dramatic structure of Berg's music with his aesthetic theory, which expresses rejection of escape and harmony without aesthetic affection in the basic sense. In this context, he has studied in detail the works of Berg, who is also his music teacher, especially focusing on his operas. According to Adorno, Berg's "Lulu" opera can be portrayed as a complete model of a dialectical new musical thought. For this reason, studying Berg's Lulu opera is gaining importance in recognition of Adorno's partnership between music and philosophy.

But as it is in the medical profession, the emergence and acceptance of these ethical principles has been in the centuries. And today, medical ethics principles are constantly improving. However, services rendered in the medical field must be supported by law as well as compliance with ethical values and principles. In other words, health service providers who violate ethical values must face legal sanctions. However, for this, ethical values and principles must be found as a norm in the legal system. In such a system, the quality of medical services and patient satisfaction can be improved by the cooperation and solidarity of professional institutions and the legal system of the country with the application of ethical principles.

The internal rebellions that had started shortly before the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly continued to expand, strengthen, diversify and lead to loss of life and property on the days following the opening of the parliament. This phase of the National Struggle led to great concern in the patriots who started to gather in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and in Ankara, but the problem was solved by the tactical-strategy and military measures applied. Although the disturbance that emerged in Beypazarı was not a big rebellion by itself, the deputies and Mustafa Kemal Pasha had a socio-psychological approach to the situation. The closeness of the rebellion area created social-psychological worries and left painful memories as well as increasing the violence of the anxiety felt. The aim of this study is to examine the legal, social and psychological effects of the Beypazarı rebellion on Ankara. Turkish Independence War is not an easy achievement. Being proud of this success is a right, but the treachery and the suffering on the road to victory should not be forgotten. In other words, historicism should be gotten out of enjoying the pleasure from past victories and should be faced with the period of paying the price for that pleasure.

In this study, the memories written by Yahya Kemal, Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu and Hakkı Süha Gezgin were evaluated together and some inferences were made. Firstly the disappearance of Abdulhak Hamit’s glory in the eyes of Yakup Kadri with Hamit's attitudes witnessed by Yakup Kadri is noticed when the technical mistakes that Yahya Kemal found in Abdulhak Hamit’s poems woke up in Yahya Kemal's doubts about Abdülhak Hamit’s poetry. Unlike both, Yahya Kemal and Yakup Kadri, it is seen that Hakkı Süha Gezgin has tried to trivialize Abdulhak Hamit’s technical mistakes in his poems and he ignores Hamit’s imperfections in his life and his works. Yahya Kemal shows the situation directed at a single person by Tevfik Fikret who is hostile to the Party of Union and Progress. It is noticed that in the memoir of Yakup Kadri, he expresses the personal and political reasons of this hostility and the status of this hostility directed towards the whole nation and state. It is determined that a situation in the life of a literary person can be interpreted differently. In addition, while Yakup Kadri does not articulate his personal thoughts about Halide Edip, it can be seen that the real thoughts of Yakup Kadri about Halide Edip can be reached in the memoir of Yahya Kemal.

Fruits are an extremely important and indispensable source of nutrition for humans. Besides their health benefits, fruits have always attracted humans’ interest and been a source of inspiration for artists with their tree, shape, color, scent, and taste. Poets are also often inspired by fruits, which are among the most beautiful elements in nature, and have made use of fruits in analogy and metaphor to express their emotions and thoughts, and sought attractive expression by creating new connotations and images. Cahit Külebi, an important writer of modern Turkish poetry, also made broad use of fruits to express his admiration for nature. This study analyzes the use of the word “fruit” and fruit names in Külebi’s poems and identifies the analogies, metaphors, connotations, and images he created with fruits.

This article analyses the Arab character in the selected tales of Naki Tezel's collection titled as Türk Masalları through a psychoanalytical approach. The study aims to examine the character in the lights of C. Fred Alford's theories on the concept of evil. It is argued that when the socio-economic conditions of the African slaves during the Ottoman Empire are taken into consideration, it is clear to see that most of these African characters are victimised and subject to an authority. It can be noticed that in these selected tales, there is an attempt of turning this passivity into activity, inferiority into superiority and the state of being an object into being a subject. The tendency to transform his/her downtrodden condition into a better one leads the Arab to commit evil deeds in the tales in question. Therefore, the aim of the Arab can be intimately connected with the desire to relieve from confronting the social/existential burden and to eradicate his/her vulnerability.

It gives important information about the construction plan, construction process, employees, organization, period construction system and technology. Over time, due to natural disasters and sometimes the needs of the community, changes in the structure can occur. At this stage, too, structure readings and inspections are introduced to understand the changes that the circuitry has undergone. In order to make healthy evaluations, both in the historical process and in the knowledge and documentation that illuminate the construction process, there is a need to place them on the spot. In this study, Sultan Ahmed Külliyesi water structures will be handled extensively in the framework of the archive documents such as the official seal boks (ruznamçe, resm, mühimme defterleri) and the data obtained as a result of on-site inspections.

Maxine Greene is one of the leading philosophers of the twenty first century. Through her existentialist philosophy, she was interested in themes such as the need for human awareness, art and aesthetic education, freedom, democracy, wide awakeness, contemporary educational philosophies, and multiculturalism. Defying the underestimation of human as a resource under the influence of neoliberal policies, she envisons a new educational paradigm on the axis of art and aesthetic. She argues that through art we become aware of the human reality and imagine the possibilities beyond it. Art also helps us embrace differences with tolerence and respect. Therefore, art should be one of the basic priorities of education to establish a democratic and humanistic community. This paper presents an overview of Greene's understanding of art and aesthetic education, besides the concepts of wide awakeness and imagination. Additionally, the relation of these concepts to her democratic and humanistic philosophy is described.

‘WHY DON’T I LOOK LİKE HER?’ FEMALE PERFECTION AND WOMAN IMAGE IN ADVERTISING AND FASHION INDUSTRY

Consumer society, which popular culture cultivates, redefines and transforms the female phenomenon. The most important of these tools which popular culture uses is advertising and fashion industry. Advertising and fashion has created an image in which a woman must look beautiful and stylish. This image brings a strong sanction that cannot be resisted, even if the identity of woman and her nature are destroyed. A woman, who turns into an object that is watched and enjoyed watching itself, is supposed to catch people’s attention. This state of necessity massifies women, unifies them and makes them the most important material of the consumer society. The woman was transformed into a consumer machine has fallen into a competition for the better and more stylish looking. Advertising creates iconic fashion models and creates a desire on minds of young ladies to look like these icons. So a perception of unrealistic ultra-feminine women image is growing. This unreal body image, shiny outfits and glittering lifestyle, redefines the role of woman gender. This new female image refers to a perfect beauty and a perfect life. This woman, who consumes constantly, is striving to be good-looking and beautiful for man's pleasure. This woman now wants to be visible and to be watched by others and uses the power of the media to be known. Advertising and media have merged the woman with a strong connection and made her the most important customer of consumption. Social media created new job tittles such as life coaching and style consultancy and these new groups are firing the consuming balloon day by day. The woman has to be always well groomed and beautiful to be appreciated; even on the street, at the market, at the beach, at home and even when sleeping, the woman must always be happy, always beautiful and always impressive. The woman now is not be alone in anywhere and will not be alone in anytime. The boundaries are all drawn for her, the dress, the makeup, the shape of the hair, and the behavior of the woman on the market, at the beach, at home, and even during the day are determined by advertising and media. This woman image is always happy and looks impressive. Because the woman will get more beautiful when she consumes more. This new image of woman and expectation of perfection negatively affects woman. In fact, this woman who seems very happy is becoming increasingly unhappy. The woman is looking for a virtual happiness that is not real. The desire to consume has turned into a dependency for this woman who has been the slave of fashion and aesthetics. However, this woman image does not exist in real life. Because, in today's world values of the modern age are questioned, the romantic image of woman has left their place to the spirit of urban, highly educated, economically independent and cultured woman. Opposite to advertising image of woman, the urban woman is in a real struggle.

The importance of having good reading skills in learning a foreign language is unquestionable. It is observed that students with more developed reading and comprehension skills also show more success in other skill areas such as speaking, writing, and listening. Since reading skills feed other skill areas, it has become more important and draws attention to reading materials. There are many resources that are helpful in developing reading skills for learning Turkish as a foreign language. These include textbooks, reading books appropriate for language levels that come with education sets, newspapers, brochures, etc. Although one of the foundational resources for developing the reading-comprehension skills for students learning Turkish as a foreign language are textbooks, these lesson books reduces the motivation of students over time; creating a need to stimulate the motivation of students with different teaching sources. One of these different sources for motivation is Turkish newspapers. This study has examined how using newspapers develop the reading and compression skills in other countries for learning second languages as well as learning Turkish as a foreign language while including example applications.

Halime Toros’s works, who wrote her first story (Ruhi Abi) in 1983, are closely related to post-modernism. The writer whose literatüre life corresponds to the period when the ideal examples of post-modernism are started to be given gives place to simulation theory and cultural transformation of post-modern times in her Works. The writer who draws on the methods of post-modernism uses mostly intertextual relations and metafiction. She gives examples in all types of intertextual relations .In this article, a detailed associative reference analysis is made by myself, in that the writer reflects her literatüre prehension and accumulation on her works. All of the metafiction examples which reflect the changing real and fiction relationship are determined. In this study, firstly, Toros’s viewsabout post-modernism will be researched. For this reason, metafiction and intertextuality which are the two determinant methods of post-modernism are chosen and examined.

USE OF IPAD FOR TRAINEE TEACHERS, ESPECIALLY FOR THE EDUCATION OF VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS: A SURVEY STUDY

There has been a recent increase in the use of mobile computer technology across Britain. This mobile technology includes laptop computers, but also so-called ‘post-PC’ technology including smart phones and tablet computers. The Apple iPad is one of the most popular examples of a tablet computer. This paper forms an initial exploratory investigation into how the iPad is being used in the education of students with a visual impairment. This paper presents the findings of survey of iPad use amongst 49 teachers training to become Qualified Teachers of Visually Impaired Students. Although this is only a small scale exploratory survey which was completed by a relatively small number of trainees, it does provide evidence that the iPad is proving a useful educational tool for visually impaired pupils in a range of settings. One strength may be the apparent general enthusiasm towards the iPad exhibited by teachers and pupils alike and this may be linked to the iPad’s general desirability. However, more practically it appears to be the inbuilt accessibility features (magnification and speech-based) and the range of available third-party applications which generate particular enthusiasm amongst this group. This short piece of work has generated a range of examples of creative and innovative practice which usefully adds to the emerging literature of this type (e.g. in relation to iPad use with other special educational needs groups). The work also raised some points of caution and questions which require follow-up.
