The Iznik tiles have a rightful reputation in the world ceramic literature. This reputation is due to the richness of color and pattern as well as the lack of glaze cracks in the ceramic body, despite the low degree of baking. This property is caused by the adaptation of mud, glaze and paint. Many analyzes have been made to investigate the structure of Iznik tile mud, but no definite result has been achieved. One of the reasons for this is the organic materials placed inside the Iznik tile mud. These organic materials give many properties to the mud such as bonding, plasticity, porosity and durability. It is not always possible to detect these substances that burns away during burning which is also called burning loss. In this study; In the light of historical sources, experiments were carried out to identify and apply these organic substances using the data available. The purpose of this research is to try to solve the ceramic technology of the period and to contribute to the restoration and conservation studies done today.

Objective: We aimed to compare the specific learning disability (SLD) profiles, psychiatric comorbidity and socio demographic structures of children with very superior intelligence (VSI) (I.Q.>130); children with very superior intelligence diagnosed with SLD (G/LD) and children with dull-normal intelligence (DI/LD) (I.Q.: 80-89) diagnosed with SLD. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study on 97 cases in Ankara University School of Medicine Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry between 2013 and 2014. SLD Test Battery and WISC-R were administered to the children. Children who had learning disabilities (problems in reading, writing, math) and who were eligible for the study criteria, were included in the study. Results: Psychiatric comorbidity in DI/LD group (81%) was significantly higher than psychiatric comorbidities in other groups (x2=7.08 p=0.03). Most common psychiatric comorbidity among the groups was attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. G/ LD group was more successful in Gesell Figures subtest than DI/LD group (z= -5.26, p<0.05). DI/LD group had higher dictation error scores than G/LD group (z= -3.36, p=0,01). Conclusion: Results of our study supports the theory of compensation of SLD-related weaknesses by giftedness-related strengths called as ‘masking’ condition and ‘twice-exceptionality view’ in the literature.

“Color” emerging at the point, where the relevant domains of physics, chemistry, psychology, physiology, philosophy, sociology meet and intercept, moving and finding meaning at the boundaries of knowledge as well as experience covered by all conceptual disciplines, is a phenomenon stepping forward and becoming prominent in respect of artistic doctrines as well as applicatory dimensions. As one of the supporting elements of meaning in art, “color” is one of the basic and primary instruments of the visual language contrived and formed by art. As an active component of the visual language, the itinerary of color in contemporary art, as well as and including its place in conceptual and productive processes constitutes the subject matter of this study. Within premises and confines of Contemporary Art, the domain of production of avant-garde (pioneering) artists positioning color on the basis of artistic apprehension and indoctrination is located at the fundamental focus of the visual language constructed over color and such perception indicative of the idea defended by this text. In conclusion, observing and beholding contemporary art, “color” in the sense of eternally extending parlance of art, is maintaining its privileged status as a lively and ultimately active phenomenon bearing novel possibilities.

It will be more correct that explain in order to prove whether art is necessary, i t is necessary to understand how it emerged in the beginning and its role in the social circulation. Primarily art is a religious ritual, followed by a narrative interpretation of the religion, afterwards a form internalized, an image that has been broken from reality afterwards. As well as of human desire to know it is also important where the art is positioned in the production sense. The answer to this question lies in the endless learning desire for the inner dynamics of knowledge and art. The paradox that we find in the perceptual mechanism that the problem is more precious is that we actually increase our thinking about the existence of art, and we can add new proposals to the rich nature of art.The identity of thought is the most important display of the integrity of art. As a result, art which is a vehicle for revealing human existence will continue to breathe for as long as life continues.

Archetypes are the first models that are in the subconscious and act by associating some emotions. In this respect, archetypal symbolism technique in a narrative has an important place in presentation the meaning of the narrative. in this way, the archetypal symbolism technique also fuses the content and form of the narrative. In this work, which focuses on the common aspects of the stories contained in the work with a structuralist understanding, it has been found that the archetype of the cultural field is emphasized in the background of the persons presented on the surface. Because, Ahmet Hikmet Müftüoğlu's "Çağlayanlar" work, shows that the characters are archetypal symbolism and have a function. Persons names change in stories, but action areas remain the same. This common feature in the stories allows us to reach an unchanging structure in the back of the narrative.

Turkish has undergone various changes especially in terms of vocabulary in distant geographies throughout its history that have spanned long centuries. In the course of time, many words in Turkish were forgotten and replaced by other words or underwent changes. The only way to determine words that were used in earlier periods of Turkish but have fallen into disuse and been forgotten today is to examine historical texts written in Turkish. The word obsolete in linguistics refers to patterns, units or elements belonging to earlier times which are not used today. This notion is also expressed using the French word archaic. In this article, archaic words were identified of an interpretation of Surah Tebareke (Surah Mülk) in the Burdur copy belonging to the Period of Principalities. The book was translated into Turkish upon request by İshak Bey bin Murâd Arslan, who was the last prince of the Principality of İnançoğulları (who reigned between the years 1362 and 1368 and died after 1391). However, we do not yet known who the author of the work is and when it was written because so far we have failed to obtain a line ascertaining its author. The copy under investigation was copied by Edhem bin Hıfzu’llah Bin Hasan et-Tavîl el Baghdadî in 1422 (Hegira 826).

When we study on the approach of the Holy Quran to the wealth subject, we can leady see that it does not reject the wealth but it approves it and says that it is necessary for surviving According to the Quran, the wealth is not an issue which must be kept away from again according to the Quran, extravagance and making wealth the purpose of the life are the behaviours which must be avoided. The Holy Quran has come as a strong message that removes all of the formations which makes the poor living without being aware of their rights and give up the staff of life however, this is a message which established love and friendship bridges between the poor and rich people but not hostility and grudge bridges. It (The Quran) never certifies that the wealth will circle only between the rich people as an exploitation and dominance tool thus many people will not find anything to spend. The verse which says that “...in order that in may become a fortune used by the rich among you…’’ (59. el-Hashr: 7)certifies this theory. Therefore the Quran has exposed the provisions required for decreasing the inequality between the wealths of the poor and rich to an optimal ratio and making everybody to have the standards for living humanely. It wants the existence of the strong public structure in which the equity is dominant in terms of the socio-economic issue as well as the all other issues and in which the balance is established between the wealths of the people.

Thus, in different periods of the Egyptian history, we can see Pharaohs women. However, the most important mechanisms of the central authority, was present in the control of Pharaoh. Pharaoh was considered to be the representative of God on earth. This belief has changed over time and when Pharaohs got strong they declared themselves God. With this power they controlled the government as well as the religious rites. To demonstrate strict religious power, Pharaohs made people afraid and the people showed great respect and loyalty.
The novels ‘Yaban’ and ‘Ankara’ telling pre and post Independence War by Yakup Kadri who tries to reflect the changes observed in Turkish society since the Reform, are two Works completing each other. The artist having left the genres like theatre, story, essay started writing novels and became interested in socialism since 1920 had similiarities between his art conception and world view. Especially his travels in Anatolia with Tetkik-i Mezalim Heyeti, became the substructure of socialist Works which start with ‘Yaban’ and stories which which are the forerunners of novels. The first of these works focusing on the political and social atmosphere of the period when it was written is the novel of a searching, the second one is the novel of a foundation. In ‘Yaban’ Ahmet Celal who reflects the scary reality of people who were ignored for centuries, experiences the surprise for not finding the signs of a new life, is angry with those who find thid new life and don’t appreciate this. Yaban and Ankara when looked with the diaological method in which Bahtin is conceptualised are like two works speaking to each other.
Federalism, one of the most important government models, was often dealt with in political and administrative dimensions, has recently begun to be examined at the financial level. There are many reasons why financial federalism has been generally acknowledged in the world in recent years. The most important reason of this acceptance is that the local government units better understand the local preferences and needs according to the federal government, and thus this improves the efficiency of the public sector, thereby it contributes the acchieve a higher growth rate and better macroeconomic performance. At the core of fiscal federalism lies the fact that local governments should be autonomous in their spending decisions and accordingly, has the authority to self-determine and raise their incomes. In this context, there are four key components of fiscal federalism. These are revenue assignment to local governments, expenditure responsibilty of local governments, transfers to subnational governments and subnational borrowing. In this study, firstly the financial federalism will be explained in detail and then the revenue assignment to local governments which is crucial in components of fiscal federalism will be examined in detail.

Literary works are regarded as significant resources to analyze society as they reflect social phenomena in a realistic way. In other words, as the characters and the plot represent the fundamental elements to analyze society, literature and sociological analysis are linked with strong bonds. This study presents an analysis about the class and gender issues of female characters chosen from three different short stories of eminent Turkish storywriters. Class and gender issues can be considered as intersectional, thereby presenting an opportunity to the readers to analyze them simultaneously. Therefore, in this study the class relations of the female characters and how gender positions them in a society are discussed. The female characters in the stories are presented as different female images with different positions in social stratification. On the other hand, what women encounter with in a male-dominated society and how they become to be inferior to men are examined with gender discussions. Before the analyses about the stratification and gender, it will be quite enlightening to make a theoretical frame about class discussions and class-gender relationship.

Thomas More’s famous work, “Utopia”, focuses on the perfect society living on the island called Utopia, which means ‘no-place-land’. Since life in Utopia is based on equality, women have many rights in society such as equal education, equal job opportunities, and equal payment. Another celebrated utopia “The City of the Sun”, written by the Italian philosopher Tommaso Campanella, tells of an ideal social life based on equality, as well. Since there is no private ownership in both states, it means that men do not hold any financial superiority over women. Nonetheless, it seems that in these two 'ideal' societies women are not in fact fully equalized. In Utopia, women are allowed to work, read, write, swim, fight, vote, and even become priests. However, women are still inferior to men. Women are separated from men in almost every area of daily life. For example, men and women sit and eat separately, and they sit separately in the temples during prayers. There is a similar situation in The City of the Sun. For here, women and men sit in separate places even when they eat; it is seen that women are kept separate from men as regards to food and drinks, education facilities and working conditions. In these works which could be considered a reaction against the social order in the Renaissance England and Italy, it is seen that although they are given more power and rights, total equality is not possible for women even in the no-place-land.

In this research it was investigated if there was a difference on a time-based correlation between stock market and real economy. Specifically, a 26-year period from February 1991 to July 2017 was analyzed on a monthly basis. In order to obtain reliable and long-term data BIST-100 index was determined on the grounds of representing stock market while industrial production index was chosen as a data set considering that it properly represents real economy. The data related to BIST-100 index were collected from The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey database, while the data connected to industrial production index were gathered from Turkish Statistical Institute. To investigate the temporal correlation between the two markets, DCC-GARCH model was utilized and necessary tests about the model were implemented and reported. The result of the analysis indicated that there was a dynamic conditional correlation between capital markets and real sector within the aforementioned period, and the effects of the markets on each other changed over time.

Experimental literature is at odds with rhetorics and styles of the traditional literature. Murat Gulsoy, one of the most prominent authors in Turkish experimental literature, frequently surprises his readers with his unique style of writing. Through use of postmodernist fiction, Gulsoy questions the connection between reality and fiction using metafiction in this novel Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman. The novel consists of sophisticated interwinding fictions. Gulsoy frequently calibrates readers awareness by reminding them that what they are reading is a fiction. Therefore, Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman consists of many odd coincidences, surreal dreams, events with fantastic elements, and characters that are aware of their role in the novel. Consequently, time and location dimensions often become quite obscure. With all those aspects, Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman is an important novel clearly portraying Gulsoy’s style. In this article, Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman is examined under the titles of plot, content, language and narration.

In this study, effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth in Turkey is investigated by time series analysis with structural break method for 1980-2017 period. Trade openness is used as a control variable and the structural break dates are included in the analyzes with dummy variables. The series were found to move together in the long-run by Johansen cointegration test. In the long-run analysis carried out by VEC method; it is seen that the effect of FDI on GDP is not statistically significant while the effect of foreign trade volume (FTV) on GDP is positive and statistically significant. According to the results; as foreign trade volume of Turkey increases by 1%, GDP increases by an average of 0.813%, in the 1980-2017 period. In short-run analysis; it is significantly determined that FDI affects GDP positively, but the short-run effects of FTV on GDP are found to be statistically insignificant. In the causality test conducted by VECM method; causality relationships between FDI, FTV and GDP are valid in the long-run, whereas this relationship is partially valid in the short-run.

AS AN EXISTENTIAL CRISIS: THE DISCONNECTED

The point that existentialism reached today has a long history. Since Heidegger’s Sein und Zeit was published, avant-garde intelligentsia has started to consider existentialism as the philosophy of our era. Jaspers undertook to transmit the principles of the new philosophy to large mass of educated readers in Germany. During and after the war existentialism movement wend its way to the cultural sphere of the West and achieved great success in France and America with leading German existentialists and Husserl who pioneered them. –This success is not only limited with United States, but also includes Latin American countries.- Are all of these temporary enthusiasm that will fade away in couple of years or a new philosophy which will really break new ground? The answer depends on to what extent the new philosophy –existentialism- reflects the reality and whether it could give enough answers to the crucial questions which was faced by the humankind of that era or not. Atay wrote “The Disconnected” at the climax of his maturity as a writer. With it he created a new type of novel which would produce an effect in the literary progress of the 80’s generation: novel of disappointment. Novel of disappointment describes concepts of people of bourgeois society that was obligatorily formed, concepts that are about life, falling apart against the brutal force of real life. Disappointment have not come to existence first time in Atay (‘s novels) during the progress of modern novel –Turkish novel or Western novel-. First major novel in the world, Don Quixote was also a novel of “lost dreams”. However bourgeois society which was in the process of birth with Cervantes, still destroys feudal dreams that keep agonizing; on the contrary, in Atay(’s novels) concept that carried onto art, society, and human because of the progress of the little bourgeois society or it can be said, top level ideological products of progress of the little bourgeois society turn into an absolute dream when they collide with the terrifying reality of real life. In the Turkish literature, novel of 80’s shattered several dreams. However that shattering effort wend its way to remains of the sensations and thoughts which was still alive. On the other hand, perception or point of view which is extensive, and rich in terms of reality concepts (emerging from the same point of perception in either case) most of the time defeated the dreams that are unfounded, low-quality, and that anchored spoiledly to the soil of reality. However this tragic mocking laugh has tinkled first time –for 80’s generation- for good in the novel of Atay, over the ideological product that pioneered the progress of little bourgeois, inside a clarified unity we see how economy, capitalism force the little bourgeois ideals to a tragic deterioration for the first time in here.
