Poverty, is a concept that transcends the sense of time and space related to the subsistence of humankind. Poverty, which was seen at different levels in simple society types in the early ages, has a history feature because it is experienced in the complex structures of today's (post) modern societies. This historical feature of the concept also causes poverty to be considered with various qualitative and quantitative characteristics in different time periods and geographical locations. For this reason, the notion of poverty cuts, many social, economic, political and cultural issues horizontally. Due to its multidimensional and interrelated nature, there are controversial approaches in the literature on the definition, causes and effects of poverty. In this study, first of all, an ontological and epistemological questioning of the concept of deprivation was undertaken and an evaluation was made about the social reality of the concept. Secondly, based on the assumption that modern society is shaped by the variables of industrialization and urbanization, the relationship of poverty with industrialization and urbanization is stated. Thirdly, the relationship of poverty with urban scale, urban space and people living in the city is studied. This relationship was evaluated together with the concepts of urban policy and urban poverty, and the urban policy tools (repertoire) used in the management of urban poverty were analyzed. The practices of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in the management of urban poverty were evaluated. Considering the purpose, scope and limitations of the study, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality example was preferred because it provides easy access to information and allows policy tools to be observed. In the research, it was considered that the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality prioritised to the reduction of urban poverty, and in this sense, it determined its strategic goals and targets by reference to national policy texts. In addition, the implementation process, procedures and principles of urban poverty management are carried out within the framework of the “Social Services and Social Assistance Regulations” arranged on the basis of the Municipal Law No. 5393 and the Metropolitan Municipality Law No. 5216. It has been determined that policy implementation tools (repertoire) thematically consist of educational support, health support, in-kind and cash aids and services.

The popularity of cryptocurrencies has led to the inclusion of digital forms of investment and payment into people’s daily routines. As a matter of fact, while thousands of cryptocurrencies appear in the financial markets today, it is seen that the number of these units is increasing day by day, and people have difficulties and are undecided when choosing which currency to invest in. In view of this situation, each of the cryptocurrencies needs logos that differentiate them at first glance through unique designs. Logos, which enable brands to be easily perceived by consumers, are visual symbols that reflect and represent the images built by brands in the simplest way. Being some kind of a brand’s face, logos with their visual design elements such as colors, shapes and fonts have a great impact on brand communication. At a time when cryptocurrencies never fall from the world’s agenda, a branding process can be observed in which visual identity elements such as logos are at the forefront. In this context, cryptocurrency logo designs can positively affect the sympathy of large masses towards cryptocurrency, whether they trust that currency or not, and their choices about investing in it. In this study, the logo design elements of Bitcoin, which is the first and most popular cryptocurrency in the world, will be examined in the context of brand communication. In this era, while even the ordinary citizen has the opportunity to invent a new cryptocurrency and launch it quickly onto the market, the importance of logos will increase in the near future in terms of attracting attention among thousands of cryptocurrencies. It has become more important and difficult than ever to create a positive and reliable image in the environment of insecurity we live in. For this reason, this study aims not only to analyze the Bitcoin logo, which is an existing popular cryptocurrency, but also to shed light on what should be considered in order to positively affect the masses when designing new cryptocurrency logos to be released in the upcoming period.

CINEMATOGRAPHIC EXPRESSION IN THE PERFORMING ARTS AND MEDIATURGY: EXAMPLES FROM KATIE MITCHELL PLAYS

Although the use of digital devices in theater started in stage design, in today's information age, in many plays, it is seen that the theatrical atmosphere is created and transferred to a cinematic reality with cinematographic expression. The multifunctional use of digital, mediatic, and technological devices on stage grows from the realities and habits of the current information era. It also causes transformation, alienation, and stratification in the space-time-reality-body perception of the play. The digital tools are not perceived only as stage design elements by artists. Theatre makers use these tools to alter or create synchronicity in time and space on the stage. The director’s choice of camera positioning and functioning turns the camera into the subject. The cinematographic expression on stage not just differentiates the play structure from the classical dramatic one, also generates alienation of the audience and synesthetic pleasure. Expectedly, performances that use digital tools and cinematographic expression require a new dramaturgical understanding which needs to be more contemporary and comprehensive than classical dramaturgy studies. One of these new dramaturgy approaches is Bonnie Marranca's mediaturgy. Mediaturgy focuses on examining the changes in space-time and characters with the technology in plays. Evaluating the contribution of cinematographic expression to the stage narrative within the context of mediaturgy gives artists a perspective on the new use of digital devices on stage for future theatre art. Katie Mitchell, who uses technology as a theatrical element, is one of the artists who can use cinematographic expression most effectively in the performing arts. Examining her plays Waves, Frauline Julie, and The Forbidden Zone in a mediaturgical context with the evaluation of the functions and meanings of the digital devices used provides inclusion of new concepts of the information age and its reflections on cultural formation.

In this study, the semantic, figurative and objective analysis of the depiction of <em>"Initiation of an Apprentice to the Trade Guild"</em><em> </em>in an Ottoman album, known as the Taeschner Album, which was illustrated in the first half of the 17th century, will be made. The depictions in the album have dynamic content, including the Ottoman society structure, traditions and customs, sections from daily life, as well as historical depictions such as palace life, ambassador reception, castle siege. This album, also known as Franz Taeschner, is essential in terms of containing religious depictions such as dervishes, preachers, azan reciters, prayers, in addition to depicting daily life topics such as tavern raid, circumcision, bridal procession, funeral, swing, ferris wheel, lantern procession. A ceremony belonging to the trade guild is depicted in one of these depictions. What are the connections of the ceremony performed with the Ahi community and sect rituals? How is this artisan tradition reflected in the depiction? This depiction in the album is also essential in that it is an illustrated document of a ceremony in the guild organization due to the Ahi community, which had a significant impact on Ottoman social and economic life.

The aim of this research is to evaluate Sheila Hicks’ place in today’s art in terms of material use, space analysis and exhibition methods, in line with the artistic perspective formed by her passion for traditional/local craftsmanship, materials and applications in creating artistic forms. The reason why the artist was chosen for the research topic; The art works created with archetypal/traditional/local knitting techniques are inspiration and pioneers in terms of today’s art dynamics. In the research, a literature review about the artist was made. The visual references (metaphor) in Sheila Hicks’ works were emphasized, and the plasticization of fiber in the artistic creation process was examined. The metamorization of the weave, the meaning attributed to the forms (knitted canvas and fiber sculptures) and their relations with space, life, traditional technique and cultural structure are discussed in an ontological framework. Foray Into Chromatic Zones, Golben Tapestries, The Column of Inquiry, Mighty Mathilde and Her Consort, and Fishing in the River (Pêcher dans la Rivière) installations, Calligraphic Wilds (Baoli Chords/Cordes Sauvages Pow Wow), Procession Temuco, Compass Arica, Palitos con Bolas and Weaving as Metaphor: Minimes were examined. Sheila Hicks continued the plastise grammar tradition of the art of Robert Delaunay, Mark Rothko and Josef Albers, and at the same time, like her contemporaries Sonia Delaunay and Anni Albers, broke the boundaries between craft, art and design. The artworks boldly showcased both the grammatical tradition of modernist abstract painting and the traditional technique of weaving and knitting in contemporary art. His works have changed the definition of pure art with both material, technique - the use of textile, knitting, weaving - and formal abstraction innovations.

ADANA AND ITS VICINITY IN EARLY CHRISTIAN PERIOD

Adana and its vicinity have been inhabited for ages and hosted many civilizations because of its fertile lands and favorable climatic conditions. Adana, located in the south of Asia Minor, in the Eastern Mediterranean gulf, is an important junction point at the intersection of historical roads connecting Mesopotamia and the Near East to Anatolia. With the emergence of Christianity, the religious connections established with the inner and western parts of Anatolia must have been established through Adana. The region within the provincial borders of Adana constitutes the geographical scope of this study. The contributions of St. Paulus and St. Thekla in the spread of Christianity in this region are very important. But it can also be thought that the inhabitants were quite willing to adopt the new religion. In this study, besides the efforts of both figures to spread and institutionalize Christianity, the difficulties experienced in the region in the early Christian period were tried to be mentioned. The number of religious martyrs who were punished and killed in the cities within the borders of Adana in the early periods of Christianity is quite high. This finding is a clue to how painful the Christianization process was in the region. After becoming Christian, it is seen that participation in religious councils from the cities of the region is quite regular. In this article, it has been tried to determine the bishops reflected in the council records and to get an idea about the sensitivity to religious debates in Adana and its surroundings. All the findings point out that the Christianization process in Adana's provincial borders was difficult and active, but there was a strong religious institutionalization afterwards. The religious architectural remains in the region also support this.

Integrated Reporting (IR), which represents the newest formation in the field of Corporate Social Disclosure (CSD), was born as a synthesis of a broad application of the concept of integration from the past to the present, as well as many other forms of voluntary disclosure that include them. However, today, the lack of a common understanding regarding the purpose of the changes in Corporate Reporting (CR) and the questioning of the suitability of the new report format of corporate reporting are the biggest difficulties in the implementation and functioning of IR. Considering all these factors, the importance of understanding the facts and formations in question and the links between them becomes even more inevitable for the successful implementation of IR. The aim of the study is to carry out a conceptual analysis by presenting the facts and formations that have been significantly influential in the development process of IR, which is defined as the last point of CR today, within the framework of historical perspective, and thus to contribute to the literature in order to make the IR philosophy understandable.

IDENTITY THAT HEALS YOUR BLACK: PIERRE SOULAGES

French painter Pierre Soulages (1919- ) is an identity identified with his presentation of 'black' as knowledge, experience and determination, without aiming to adapt to the art form of the 1950s. This identity, which produced signs parallel to the feelings that developed after the World War II and the perception of reality built on the existence of the "real world", removed black from being something about darkness, and became an important representative of its integration with light. Thanks to Souleges, black has become a 'modern color' - not a tone - representing the changing self. The aim of this research is to determine the unique continuity of the works of Souleges, who puts black at the center of his art, and to analyze the abstract expressionist artist's subjective identity by placing it on the axis of existence. In this context, while the modern 'black' clarifies its place as the creative element of the order in which it exists, the individual identity/self phenomenon in the interaction of practical consciousness gains an external dimension. On the basis of existential concern, Soulages has developed a conscious awareness, captured and presented a unique sensitivity. As the object of Souleges' thought, 'black' has become the proof of the existence of the relationship between artistic creativity and individual identity and the ground of trust.

South Sudan’s recently ended civil war began shortly after gaining independence in 2013. The conflict grew out of proportion and became disastrous for the world’s youngest nation. In 2014 pressure amid sanctions from the international community forced rival parties into a productive process of a peace deal. However, there was little success as both the rebel militia and the government anticipated the downfall of each other. January 2015 indicated a positive move: the parties agreed to a cease-fire and peace talks were outlined. Mediators and other neutral parties, on the other hand, must take advantage of the situation to ensure stability. Another year of war will undoubtedly lead to a division, which will ultimately endanger South Sudan's sovereignty. This article describes the causes of ethnic struggles, military operations, the consequences of war, the role of external forces, and how to reach peaceful solutions.

THE THEORETICAL STRUCTURE OF TANNENBAUM'S STAR MODEL

Many definitions and classifications of intelligence have been made from the past to the present. In this research, the theoretical structure of Tannenbaum's Star (Starfish) model is discussed in general terms. The research is a theoretical study. In order for a child to be gifted/intelligent in the star model, it is necessary to include general ability, special ability, environmental factors, individual factors that are not mental and chance factors in order to be gifted/intelligent. Tannenbaum defined general ability as general intelligence. A special ability is a set of special skills related to areas such as mathematics, art and language. In the mentioned model, it is stated that some characteristics that are not related to intelligence as well as intelligence are important for a gifted individual. For instance, it is mentioned that the desire to achieve success, satisfaction, etc. such characteristics are the characteristics that lead a gifted individual to success. Another of the components in the model is environmental factors. According to Tannenbaum, environmental factors are important for the emergence of talent. The intention of the luck factor in the model is the following: it may be important to create certain conditions and opportunities for the discovery of abilities. In other words, it is important to be in the right place at the right time. Each of these factors consists of static and dynamic sub-factors. Static factors include factors related to the readiness of a person. The success level of a person, his health and his relationship with his environment may change over time. Dynamic factors include educational, social and learning processes that affect a person and lead to change. According to Tannenbaum's Star Model, reaching the climax, that is succeeding, depends on combination of all factors. An application based on the Star Model can be carried out in terms of the diagnosis of the gifted / talented ones, which the Ministry of National Education focuses on with great importance.

After the memorandum given to the President in 1971, there were frequent changes of government in Turkey, the embargo imposed on the country as a result of the Cyprus Peace Operation, the oil crisis and the currency shortage put the country in very difficult situations. Suleyman Demirel, who came to power at the end of 1979, authorized Turgut Özal in the field of economics. Turgut Özal, who took office, implemented the January 24 economic stability package, which he also included and prepared recommendations from institutions and organizations such as the IMF and the World Bank. Along with these decisions, an inward-looking, import-substitutive understanding of the economy was abandoned and an outward-looking, export-based model was aimed at. However, some of the decisions included in the economic stability package were not implemented and caused a crisis. January September 12, 1980, the Turkish Armed Forces seized the administration, and then the unenforceable decisions contained in the January 24 economic stability package began to be implemented. January September January September 12, 1980, the general situation before September 12, 1980 was investigated and the current problems were focused on, then the content of the January 24 decisions was mentioned and the role of the January 24 decisions in the coup on September 12, 1980 was evaluated by establishing the connection with what problems the unenforceable decisions caused.

Unemployment is taken as a dependent variable in this paper, GDP, and inflation as an explanatory variable. The augmented Dicky- Fuller test and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method have been applied in this paper. The main findings of the paper depict that there is no unit root problem as all the variables are stationary at the level. The results of multiple linear regression models indicate that GDP has a negative and significant effect on unemployment, while inflation has an significant and positive effect on unemployment in Sudan. It also the diagnostic result of the paper shows that the model is free from heteroscedasticity. The R-squared value is 74% for the model; therefore, the model delivers a comparatively good fit of the data. This paper will help policymakers to modify the policy to reduce the unemployment rate in Sudan. The government should also embark on the creation of more job opportunities for the people through construction and setting up more industries to mobilize and create more jobs for the people.

For this reason, when the semahs of the Eskişehir region, which is the subject of this study, were examined, the musical and belief dimensions were examined as a whole. Uncovering the importance of Eskişehir semahs and music in Eskişehir Alawite-Bektashi culture was the focus of the present study. The semah works performed in djems, similar points and differences during the performances, as well as the local artists who perform these and the instruments used in these performances in the Alawite and Bektashi villages were determined along with the regions where they were performed in Eskişehir. Then, musical analysis was made and the tune sounds of the semahs, the similar maqams with which they were performed, and the procedures used were determined, and the findings were explained as a whole in the discussion, conclusion, and recommendations sections. These semahs were taken from the zakirs who played and sang the semah folk songs in Eskişehir, who constituted the source people. A literature review was made for the guides and resources for problem identification and problem-solving. As well as the resources such as theses, books, magazines, the internet resources were also used in this respect. During the investigation step, one-to-one direct interviews were made with the people who were related to the subject, and in the light of the information obtained about the semahs, they were transcribed, compiled, and notated. Attention was paid to the objectiveness of the data that were obtained as a result of the study in the field, and care was taken to include realistic and clear data. When the changes that semahs have undergone in the context of Music-Dance were examined, new findings such as the observation of the use of percussion instruments in semahs in some regions, contrary to the general acceptance in the literature, show the original value of the study. In this respect, the fact that this study, which was conducted in the borders of the city of Eskişehir, lays the groundwork for a more comprehensive study to be conducted in neighboring cities and counties is important in terms of determining the transformation of semahs as an ancient cultural element of Anatolia in the context of Music-Dance.

It is known that packaging has been used as a necessity by people from past to present. Packaging, which was used for storage and protection in the early ages, is also used as a transportation, stocking and sales strategy today. Along with the developing technology, very different materials have been used in packaging. But the most used material was paper. It is an important issue that the material used in the packaging design is important in terms of durability as well as providing convenience to the seller in terms of cost. It is one of the most important items to be considered in the low-cost and durable box designs to preserve the product in it and prevent it from being damaged. In this study, it is aimed to minimize the damages that may occur due to physical and climatic conditions during transportation, apart from sales and stocking, and new generation box designs have been prepared with examples of studies that can eliminate this problem. With the droptest, measurements were made by applying physical impacts to the package and it was explained that the damage was minimized.

This study aims to find out the figures of speech in the short story <em>Absent-Mindedness in a Parish Choir</em> by Thomas Hardy and determine the strategies used in the translation of the figures of speech from English into Turkish. 13 figures of speech; including simile (7), hyperbole (2), alliteration (1), assonance (1), allusion (1), imagery (1), were found in 8 contexts in the short story. The translation of figures of speech from English into Turkish was analysed according to the strategies put forward by Baker (2018), namely <em>strategies used by professional translators </em>and types of equivalences suggested by Koller (2011). As a result of translation evaluation, it was found that the translator tends to translate the figures by using their cultural equivalences and paraphrasing by related words respecting Baker’s translation strategies. Besides, it is worth mentioning that the translator makes no concessions of the tone of the source text and can maintain the equivalency proficiently. Considering the findings of the study and relevant literature, it was concluded that translators can overcome literary difficulties as long as they are aware of the cultural (dis)similarities and translation strategies.

The article study covers the formation process of an installation work in the exhibition "Call Me Istanbul is My Name" (Call Me Istanbul is My Name) held at the German Museum of Modern Arts (ZKM Karlsruhe) between 18.04.2004-08.08.2004. The work, based on the concepts of Personal Mythology and visual memory, is an application realized by the Istanbul-born artist, who has studied architecture and textile design, with the aim of providing a space simulation experience. In the fiction, which consists of applied felt objects, it is aimed to trigger visual memory and multiple senses with the performatic support taken from additional elements such as motion and outdoor sound. With an interdisciplinary approach, an embroidered felt prayer rug escaping from the museum window was personified by writing a scenario. According to the story, the layers of architectural ruins left from the accumulation of intercultural relations were taken from the eyes of the prayer rug, which was blown from the skies of Istanbul with an orientalist approach. The data obtained has been a guide in the selection of the fiction and its symbolization on the fabric panels. In the study, which was carried out to show the cultural symbols of the Byzantine, Ottoman and later periods in a common formation, the architectural application of the suspended-tension awnings of the district bazaars was taken as an example. The different cultural symbols in the history of the city are reflected with felt panels. In the installation work, tombstones rising from the ground in conical form, sculptural felt units, and personalized costumes descending from the hangers on the revolving mechanisms have provided integrity. The iconic outdoor sounds of Istanbul, such as the ferry, the call to prayer, street vendors and the cries of seagulls, were pre-recorded and played in the venue during the exhibition process, thus enhancing the effect of the theme. Thus, the possibility of touching, reviving and keeping alive the individual memory records of the audience has been increased. It is aimed to give the audience an Istanbul experience with a personal mythology approach and a simulation setup symbolized from visual memory, the relationship of sections taken from different places with each other and the method of reaching a whole.
