Countries began to compete in attracting foreign investments, especially in the 1990s, and today, they are developing their economies and financing their foreign debts by promoting direct investments. Direct investments ensure national income growth, employment growth, technology transfer and economic growth in the country receiving the investments. In addition to this, direct investments is an important aspect that will initiate the economic development movement of developing countries. However, Turkey, in general, has not yet reached its potential to attract investment. Moreover, the effect of direct investments on macroeconomic variables has been very limited in our country, as they have been used in mergers and acquisitions and for real estate development.
In this study, the difference of foreign direct investments from other investments has been revealed and their contributions to the countries have been explained; the direct investment performance of our country has been evaluated in general and on industrial basis and several solution proposals have been presented.

The study examines the determinants of redistribution preferences at the individual level. We first review theoretical and empirical literature to establish a framework for empirical analyses. Then, we provide the empirical evidence based on the data from World Value Survey (WVS) and European Value Survey (EVS) covering a hundred countries. Results reveal that demographic and socioeconomic factors such as age, birth cohort, gender, marital status influence the redistribution preferences. Income level, relative income, education are significant variables with negative coefficients in the line with the traditional approach of economics and the POUM hypothesis. Besides, we examine further the effect of individual values, norms such as fairness, life control feeling, reciprocity, altruism, and trust. All variables were significant, but especially fairness was higher coefficients. It considered a religion, the interaction of religion with religiousness, ideology, social class, and nationalism as indicators of culture and identity. All variables, especially religion, were significant and important variables.

It is thought that more people will leave their countries due to the civil war when the number of refugees, who took refuge in neighbor countries during the Syrian War, was known to be millions. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) provides the needs of Syrian refugees and other refugees around the world regardless of race, religion, and gender.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the satisfaction levels of Syrian Refugees about the social media of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). In this context, the satisfaction levels Syrian refugees living outside the camps in Jordan and Turkey about the social media were evaluated and compared with a survey of 300 people. While age, gender, and educational background are independent variables in our study, our dependent variables include the frequency of use, the most shared topics, efficiency and satisfaction of the social media of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees by Syrian refugees.
As a result of the study, it was revealed that Syrian refugees are not satisfied with the role of the social media of UNHCR. In this sense, no significant difference was determined between the demographic information of Syrian refugees living outside the camps in Jordan and Turkey (sex, age, education, profession) and their satisfaction levels of the social media of UNHCR.

From the discovery of cinema to the present, it has emerged as a commercial vehicle and a capitalist practice that offers entertainment to the masses. The acceptance of the cinema as an art form has been achieved through the transfer or interpretation of the outside world, thanks to its fictional quality and effective expression. Considering the process and narrative structures that the cinema has undergone until today, the postmodern period determines the contemporary art approach, especially after the classical and modern period. Thanks to its mixed structure, today's postmodern cinema is a structure that unites and blends all branches of art in itself. Cinema, which shapes its distinctive narrative language with the reflective, which is taken from arts such as painting and photography, with the fictional storytelling it takes over from the theater, is an influential popular art that can process and enrich these features and intensify in daily life. Technically, he uses almost all art disciplines while creating a cinema narrative language based on the principle of recording photographic images on a film strip and reflecting them on the screen. Today's postmodern understanding of art is also built on the relationships of different art disciplines with each other. It is seen that the concept of intertextuality has been adopted as the reading method of texts in the postmodern period art understanding. In the field of cinema, which forms the backbone of this study, different studies include citing, copying, sending to each other, etc. transactions are evaluated in the context of intertextuality. Due to the increase in intense relations among art disciplines, it seems inevitable to use inter-textual approach, which is a special form of it, other than the concept of intertextuality. In this study, emulation, reflection, etc. between pictures and movies in the art universe. Inter-indicator definition will be used to express shopping transactions. The concept of inter-indicator is used to express the shopping processes of an art discipline established with other art disciplines. When the concept is adapted to cinema, the shopping transactions of cinema with other art disciplines (cinema-literature, cinema-photography, cinema-painting, etc.) are evaluated within the context of inter-indicator.

Today, innovations are considered as the most important element of economic growth, competitive advantage and the social welfare. There are many empirical studies in the literature on the positive impact of innovation on economic growth. However, measuring innovation is an important requirement for effective management of innovation. Because if you cannot measure, which is the rule in management science, you cannot manage the pattern, it is also valid for innovation and innovation management. Studies are carried out on new measurement methods for the analysis of innovation performance especially for countries. In this study, the effect of innovation on economic growth has been handled within the framework of economic theories, and generally accepted innovation measurement methods have been examined.

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that circulate among animals, but can also be found in humans. At the end of 2019, a new type of virus, which hasa not previously been identified in humans, has been detected in Wuhan, China (Hubei province). As the coronavirus spread rapidly in China, by the end of January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a state of emergency, announcing that the current disease had reached levels that would threaten public health around the world. The situation has progressed rapidly and more and more cases have been identified, including in Europe and US. Many countries have developed various strategies to intervene in this situation. The main strategy here has been to take measures to slow the spread of viral infections, to reduce the burden on the health system (especially beds and ventilators, etc.), and to provide the time required to develop vaccines or treatments. One of these measures is to close schools to prevent students from becoming infected or to slow down the transmission rate of the virus. Quickly identifying the risk of pandemic formation as well as the role of schools after the pandemic will be a critical indicator. As a result, scientifically there is a long way to go regarding pandemics

It is important to select frequently used words, to classify these from easy to difficult and to follow this classification while teaching vocabulary. Verbs are also classified separately. Teaching vocabulary needs identification of verbs in terms of which ones to be taught in what level and how much to be taught. This process of identification is based on the result of frequency studies. Such studies may focus on coursebooks for foreigners and written or oral narrations of students. It is also important to investigate graded readers that reflect the language use in context so that the target verbs can be identified. Therefore, this study aims to determine the verbs found in graded readers, their frequency of use and distribution among language levels. To this end, the study employs document analysis, and Turkish graded readers at A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels published by Erdem Publications have been analyzed. The results revealed the verbs used in these graded readers, their frequency of use and distribution across language levels.

Heraclitus, one of the important philosophers of antiquity, is known for its opposition to both people and democracy. Heraclitus says that man is an ordinary and unqualified being because of his ignorance or indifference to himself, his environment and the universe, and according to him, there are masses of such people. For this reason, Heraclitus' attitude towards people has manifested itself in the form of belittling or humiliating them. Since the majority of people are unqualified or ordinary in nature, and democracy, which is one of the forms of government, is composed of these unqualified and ordinary people, Heraclitus took a contrary attitude towards democracy.
Therefore, this study reveals why Heraclitus has a contradictory attitude towards both people and democracy. At the same time, this study revealed that Herakleitos was in a great injustice both in his harsh attitude towards people and in his attitude towards democracy.

In the research, Vincent Van Gogh's painting named "Potato Eaters" was tried to be analyzed according to the theory of the layers put forward by Nicolai Hartmann in the ontology of art. Van Gogh is one of the most famous names in art history with both his works and his life. The painting, which is one of the artist's first works and defined as the first masterpiece, reflects the lives of villagers and workers that the artist witnessed and influenced very much, but also in a striking way. Also, unlike the painters of his age, he painted the phenomenon of social reality with an original style in his work. The artist faced negative criticism during his period, but his pursuit of reality was understood after his death. As a result, Van Gogh's "Potato Eaters" painting is an dominant work that has made its name in the history of art with its iconic power as well as the different techniques and style it has in its front structure, and the meanings of the people it contains in its back structure.

The Turkish intellectual, who discovered his thoughts in search of solutions to social and political problems, questioned the methods of not being oppressed in the face of the West and of being able to continue as a strong state in the Union by aiming to capture the superior characteristics of the west. The Turkish thought developed due to the modernization process; it revolved around the “phenomenon of modernization”. Since the second half of the 19th century, Turkish intellectuals have sought identity with various formulae. There is no doubt that this intellectual accumulation has a great impact on the “Integrative Turkish identity” of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who based the Turkish Revolution on the principles of “nationality” and “civilization”. Yusuf Akçura’s “optionalist” approach in the “Three Styles of Politics” and Ziya Gökalp’s “synthesizer” approach in the “Turkification-Islamization-Modernization” which is referred to as the ‘father of idea of Turkism’, played an important role in the development of the current of nationalism. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who reshaped the Turkism current with the establishment of the state of the Republic of Turkey, built Turkish identity on the understanding of nationalism he developed. In the declaration, the fiction of “Turkish identity”, constructed by Atatürk on the basis of the tripartite classifications of Yusuf Akçura and Ziya Gökalp, which still remains valid today, will be considered comparatively within the framework of the intellectual efforts of the Turkish intellectuals.

This study aims to raise universal awareness by reading the refugee problem, which should be seen as a universal problem, through photographs. When we look at the origin of this problem that the world ignores, we face the fact that we all have responsibility for this. Only ownership and confrontation of this problem will lead us to the solution. In this study, the impact and importance of the art of photography in creating the awareness that the refugee problem is a common problem of society is mentioned.
Art, which has been progressing in an objective way to witness history for centuries, has always existed as a mirror of society. The art, which is divided into branches, eventually reaches a common conclusion about conveying the same message. Art of photography is one of the most common and easy-to-read arts of today's digital world.
It is hoped that looking at the issue of refugees through photographs, interpreting and identifying the crucial points of the problem and leaving this article to social memory will create a small drop for the solution of the issue.
Art, which cannot be independent of the era it lives in, is one of the most powerful tools in creating awareness, empathy and social memory about migration and the refugee crisis as a consequence of the migration.

‘INDEPENDENCE’ AS A DESIGN APPROACH FOR ZONGULDAK LAVOIRS

Zonguldak coalmine is one of the significant and historical industrial regions of Turkey, which is home to an abundance of untouched coal reserve. Unfortunately today, coal reserve in Zonguldak is not enough to support all contributing parts of city’s complex lifecycle. When designing a master plan for such a city, the most important consideration is how this constructed industrial area will potentially affect the central cycles of the land and waterfront. Outside of maintaining the civic integrity of the land, its circulation and density, the idea is for the centre of Zonguldak to function as a design model, demonstrating that a new future for constructed civic and independence environment without industrial trace is possible. The aim for independent city centre is to successfully replace its old industrial area with the design of waterfront and insider area in order to create a property that is more valuable than the sum of industrial parts and aged and non-functional central parts. Especially if waterfront design has attached to central parts by considering relationship with each other, usage of waterfront might be classified as an independent design rather than previous design. By doing this it will set a new precedent for future architects and urban planners, one which places an independent value in identity that is to be sustainable and conscientiously developed.
