Abstract

Abstract

This study was conducted in order to compare the winning and defeated teams from the competitions played in the ING Basketball league in terms of some performance parameters. Research data were obtained from the Turkey Basketball Federation's official website, the SPSS statistical package was used for the evaluation of the data. In the study where the analysis of the 2019-2020 season was made, a total of 184 competitions were evaluated. In the results obtained from the normality tests, it was determined that the data did not show a normal distribution, and as a result, the Man Whitney U test, one of the non-parametric tests, was applied to compare two independent groups. A statistically significant difference was found between the two groups in favor of the winning teams in terms of total points, two points, three points, assists, defense rebounds, total rebounds, steals and block parameters (p <0.05). In terms of the ball loss variable, a statistically significant difference was observed in favor of the teams that lost the matches. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of free throw, offensive rebound and foul parameters (p> 0.05). As a result, it can be said that in order to be victorious from the matches, it is necessary to produce more points, and for this to reach higher values in terms of rebound, steal and block parameters than opponent teams.
