Abstract

The aim of this study is to put forward their views on the distance education of school administrators in Turkey. Qualitative method, one of the research methods, was used in the study, the phenomenon-science (phenomenology) pattern was preferred. The study group of the research consists of 20 school administrators working in the official primary, secondary and high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education of the Central District of Adıyaman in the 2019-2020 academic year. The data of the research were collected within the framework of the “School administrators' views on distance education (Semi-Structured Interview Form)” developed by the researcher. In interviews with school administrators, descriptive analysis technique was used. The data obtained as a result of the analyzes and interview questions were presented as the findings of the research in line with the determined themes. As a general result of the research, it was concluded that distance education can use the system as a supportive system in environments where face-to-face education is limited. However, distance education is economical, it eliminates time and space limitation, it provides individual study responsibility, reduces interaction and socialization, measurement and evaluation cannot be done instantly according to face-to-face education, lack of participation in lessons, lack of infrastructure and equipment, lack of legislation and the most important administrative supervision inadequacy. It was concluded that. It has been revealed that efficient use will be achieved when it is used as a supplement rather than as an alternative to the distance education system.
