Abstract

Laz language (Lazuri) has been used by old-aged generations in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey and in Gonio of the Acara Region, Georgia. Is is estimated that a hundred thousand people in Turkey and five thousand people in Georgia use this language. Laz language that belongs to Kartvelian Language Family has been interacted with different languages spoken in Turkey, Georgia in the lexicography, phonetics, morphology and syntax spheres. The active contact of the Laz Language with the Turkish Language started when the geography Lazistan came under Ottoman rule. There exist linguistic elements in Laz language borrowed from Turkish language and vice versa es well. In this article we focused to just Turkish syntactical calques in Laz Language. The analyzed examples have revealed that some syntactic patterns in Laz Language have borrowed from Turkish language. It was determined in this study that these borrowings were met with different structures in Laz language. The findings of this study will accelerate the reassessment of comparative linguistic facts at the regional level.
