Abstract
Zaman, birçok yazarın yapıtının ana temasını oluşturmuştur. Marcel Proust’un Kayıp Zaman İzinde (A la Recherche du Temps Perdu) başlığı altında topladığı yedi ciltlik “nehir romanı” nın ana teması zamandır. Yazar, zaman konusunu birçok açıdan irdelemiştir. Romanın anlatıcı-kahramanı, önce takvim ve saatlerle ölçülebilen zaman kavramını yok saymakta, psikolojik (kişisel, görece) zamanı farklı yöntemlerle sunmaya çaba sarf etmekte, fakat sonunda çevresinde ve kendisinde meydana gelen değişimlerde zamanın etkin rol oynadığının bilincine varmaktadır. Tüm uğraşlarına karşın etkisinden kurtulamadığı zamanı yazar, kişi, toplum, nesne ve mekân üzerinde yarattığı değişikler açısından ele almaya çalışır. Kişilerin zamanla nasıl bir değişime uğradığına dikkat çekmek için, zamanın ilerleyişine paralel olarak kişilerde meydana gelen fiziksel ve ruhsal değişmeler ve gelişmeler incelenmiştir. Proust’un romanlarında toplum da zamanın gücünden nasibini alır, zira zaman toplumun da değişmesine neden olmuştur. Toplumda zamanla değerler ve bakış açılarında değişimler yaşanmaya başlamıştır. Zamanın nesne ve mekân üzerinde de etkisi söz konusudur. Mekanlar da zamanla değişmiştir. Zaman, gerek insan ve gerekse nesne/mekan üzerinde sürekli bir tehdit unsuru olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Tüm zaman dışı olma ve sonsuzluğu yakalama uğraşlarına karşın, zamanın yıkıcı gücü, kişiler, nesne/mekanlar üzerinde kendini hissettirmektedir. Proust, bir yandan zamanı bütün varlıkları değiştirip yok eden bir sorun olarak görürken, diğer yandan da gerçeğin keşfedilmesinde olumlu bir faktör olarak değerlendirmektedir, bir başka deyişle insanı ve toplumu değiştiren ve geliştiren bir süreç olarak göstermektedir. Yedi ciltlik şaheserin son cildi olan Yakalan Zaman anlatıcı-kahramanın gözünde gerçeğin zamanla keşfinin bir belgesi niteliğindedir. Bu bağlamda Proust’un romanı bir deneyim ve öğrenme romanıdır denilebilir. Proust, gerçeğin keşfinde zamanı çok hassas bir şekilde kullanan ve bunu çok özgün bir şekilde yansıtan dünya edebiyatındaki nadir yazarlardan birisidir. Proust’un reddetmeye çalıştığı zaman nihayetinde her konuda gücünü ve etkisini gösterir. Aslında kayıp zamandan öte, Proust’un gerçeğin peşinde olduğu ve bunu keşfedebilmesinde zamanın bir araç olduğu söylenebilir. Proust, bir yandan yaşam devam ederken, diğer yandan da değişimin sürekli devam ettiğine dikkat çekmek istemektedir. Bir başka deyişle yaşam devam ettikçe değişim de kaçınılmazdır. Bu çalışmada Marcel Proust’un romanlarında zaman konusu, kişi, toplum, nesne ve mekân unsurları üzerinde yarattığı değişimler ile gerçeğin keşfinde oynadığı rol açısından ele alınmaktadır.

Abstract
Time has become the theme of many writers’ works. The main theme of Marcel Proust’s novel Remembrance of Things Past (A la Recherche du Temps Perdu) is time, which is also called as “river novel” consists of seven volumes. The writer examines the theme of time from different perspectives. The novel-teller firstly ignores the time which can be measured as calendars or clock and he then presents psychological ( personal, relational) time in different methods but he comes to realize in the end that the time has an active role in shaping changes in him and his around. The writer, despite all the struggles giving to the time and being an unable to save its effect, tries to examine the time that creates changes on person, community, object and place. In order to pay attention how people go through changes in time, he examines the changes and developments in people’s physical and spiritual manners in parallel with the passing of the time. In Proust’s novels, the communities or societies affects from the power of time because the time leads to changes in the societies. The societies even go through changes in its values and point of views. It can be said that the time has an effect on objects and places. Places even changes in time. Time is seen as a thread both on people and places/objects. Despite all the given struggles against “out of time” and “catching the eternity”, the destructive power of time makes itself evident on people, objects/ places. Proust sees time as a problem destructing and changing every being, on the other hands, regards it as a positive element that leads to the discovery of the truth. In other words, he regards it a process by which people and societies are changed and improved. The time regained, the last volume of the book series, is a document of the discovery of the truth in time in the eyes of novel-teller. In this respect, the novel of Proust can be named as experience and learning. Proust is one of the rarest writers in the world who uses time sensitively in the search of truth and reflects this uniquely. Time, which Proust tries to reject and refuse, makes it obvious and effective itself in every field. In fact, Proust pursuits in the discovery of truth and time can be said to be a tool in this journey of discovery. Proust wants to pay attention to this fact that while the life goes on, the change itself instantly goes on. In other words, as the life goes on, the change is inevitable. In this study, it is examined that the theme of time and its effect and changes created on people, objects and places in the novels of Marcel Proust and its role in the discovery of truth.
