Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, 19. yüzyıldan beri gelişmekte olan sosyal bilimlerin, toplumsal gerçekliğin anlaşılması ve yorumlanması sürecinde teorik ve metodolojik anlamda temel tartışmalarından biri olan sosyal bilim araştırmalarında “değer yargısı” üzerine bir incelemedir. Bu çalışma, sosyal bilimler ve değer yargısı konusunda pozitivizm ve yorumlayıcı yaklaşımları teori ve metodoloji bağlamında karşılaştırıp literatüre sosyal bilimlerin yöntem sorunsalına yönelik tartışmalara katkı sunmak ve geniş bakış açıları kazandırmayı hedeflemektedir. 19. yüzyılda ortaya çıkan Sosyal bilimlerin genç bilimler özelliği taşımalarından dolayı halen metodolojik bir olgunluğa erişmediği ve ortaya çıkışından günümüze kadar toplumsal sorunların çözümünde kullanmış olduğu yöntemleri her daim geliştirdiği ve bu nedenle de sürekli bir metodolojik tartışma içerisinde olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çalışma sonucunda, sosyal bilimlerde değer yargısının günümüzde toplumsal araştırmalarda oldukça önemli bir yer tuttuğu ve sosyal bilimcilerin araştırmalarını yaparken değer yargısını daha önceki dönemlerin aksine göz ardı etmediği görülmüştür.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to discuss about values one of basic debates in social sciences researches in the process of understanding and interpreting social fact of social sciences that have developed theoretically and methodologically since the 19th century. The study has considered positivism and interpretive approaches regarding values and social sciences in terms of theory and methodology in order to contribute and gain new broader perspectives to literature about methodological issues of social sciences. Social sciences emerged in the 19th century have not got a methodological maturity because of being young sciences, therefore, they have developed the methods they use for solving social problems and hence, they have constantly been in methodological debates from their emergence to today. In the end of study, it has been concluded that values have taken quite a significant place in social researches and when social scientists perform their studies, they have not ignored values contrary to previous studies.
