Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to examine the problem-posing skills of the eighth grade students about the area of a circle and a sector and reveal their experiences and thoughts in this process. For this purpose, research was designed according to the case study. The study group was determined according to the purposeful sampling method and 79 eighth-grade students participated in the study. The data were obtained by using the "Problem-Posing Form for the Area in the Circle (PPFAC)" and "Opinion Form for Problem-Posing (OFPP)". While the data obtained from PPFAC were analyzed according to the "Problem Classification Diagram (PCD)", the data obtained from OFPP were analyzed descriptively. As a result, it was obtained that the eighth-grade students' problem-posing skills were low. It was determined that the students participating in the study had difficulties in problem-posing. When asked about the easy aspects of problem-posing, it was revealed that they thought that there was no easy aspect of problem-posing because they solved problems until this time.
