Abstract

The Word Hindu was first used by the Persians and the Turks to describe the inhabitants of the Indus valley, while the British invasion of India began to be used for people belonging to Hinduism. Hindu art refers to art made by people belonging to this religion. Hinduism, a polytheistic religion, has a history dating back to 2500 BC, written sources, philosophy, teachings and a rich understanding of art. Lord Shiva is one of the three most important gods of Hindus. Lord Shiva is a destructive and regenerative god. There are 1008 names that define Shiva, and meaning of each name defines its attribute. From the outside it looks quite complicated features, It becomes more apparent when it recognizes certain symbols representing Shiva and the gods and goddesses associated with it. The aim of the research is to draw attention to Hindu mythology and art with the example of Shiva. It also introduces the Hindus art with its rich plastic elements and aesthetic understanding.
