Abstract

Evaluation of the effectiveness of the authentic leadership behaviors to organizational commitment of Ministry of Health employees is the purpose of this research. In this context, the universe of the research consists of employees of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health and the sample consists of 435 staff members working in Central Organization. Information and data are gathered by Organizational commitment scale developed by Meyer, Allen & Smith and Authentic Leadership Questionnaire developed by Walumbwa et al. In this research carried out with descriptive research method, descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlation and Regression analysis are used. As a result of the Pearson Correlation analysis, that there is are relationship (even if it is weak) between organizational commitment and dimensions of authentic leadership (dependent and independent variables) are detected and the hypothesis that ‘’there is a relationship between organizational commitments and authentic leadership perceptions of the employees of Ministry of Health’’ may be accepted. However, Regression analysis is performed to determine what dependent variables could be explained by which independent variables and what was the degree of relationship. As a result, 10% of the change in the dimension of emotional commitment is the dimension of transparency in relations: 14% of the change in the size of the continuous commitment is the dimensions of transparency and self-awareness in relations; 18.0% of the change in the normative commitment dimension explains the internalized morality and self-awareness dimensions.
