Abstract

The educational structures of the Republican Period are among the structures that represent the modernization process of the nation and play an important role in its development. These structures are important in terms of reflecting the socio-cultural structure, technological developments and architectural history of the period. The architectural features, locations and educational programs of these buildings represent the level of development of the provinces in which they are located. İnönü Primary School, which is the first educational building of the Early Republican Period in Niğde province, has been studied. This building, which was registered in 1993, currently maintains its educational function. The aim of the study is to document the current state of the structure, which is one of the important representatives of Niğde educational architecture, and to bring it into the literature. Within the scope of the study, general information was given about the education structures of the Early Republican Period and in particular the historical education structures of Niğde province. The present state of the structure is examined; history, location, architecture and structural features of the plan and facade features and changes and changes are given. The study conducted; information from the conservation board and the school archive. The importance of documenting İnönü Elementary School, which has important effects on educational heritage and urban memory, was documented for its preservation and survival.
