WORKAHOLISM AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP FEATURES: A STUDY ON THE TRAINERS

Abstract

Today's competitive conditions require individuals to work harder; the personality traits of individuals from the other side cause different perspectives and behaviors in business life. Extremely tied to work and continuous work without interruption are often referred to as overwork. This situation emerges as an excessive and uncontrollable need to influence one's health, happiness and relationships with others in the negative direction. Workholism is seen as a positive behavior for both the individual and the organization according to some scientists, but it is a psychological discomfort according to some scientists. Entrepreneurial individuals are innovative, risk-taking, change-focused, focused on opportunities and creative. In addition to these, according to personality characteristics of entrepreneurs, advanced communication skills, openness to change, high desire for success and determination are also included. These traits lead to self-employment for the individual to achieve financial success and to have a reputation. Purpose of the research; examine the relationship between workholism and entrepreneurial personality in the institutional training instructors. The sample of the research consists of 500 instructors who provide institutional training in various universities and consultancy firms in Istanbul. The most important characteristic of the sample is the combination of both sector experience and academics. As a result of the research, statistically meaningful and positive relationship was found between workholism and entrepreneurial personality. According to this; Entrepreneurial personality traits are more common in normal people than in normal people. On the other hand; there is a positive strong weak correlation between entrepreneurship and overwork and a weak positive relationship between entrepreneurship and compulsive work.
