Abstract

Today, developments in health, technology, economy and social fields cause to increase the life span of people. Especially before the 65 and over age group in our country where people are considered old, but now nearly aged 75 and above is considered elderly. This situation leads to the emergence of financial decision-making requirements in addition to old people's pensions and social security needs. Because, financial decision making is the most important complement to a healthy and good life. Financial decision making is also an effective element in the better management of the financial resources and money accumulated in the past over the remaining lives of individuals. The aim of this study was to measure the financial literacy skills of the elderly as an effective factor in their financial decision making. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to the elderly people living in a nursing home operating in Kuyucak District of Aydın province and financial literacy skills of these individuals were measured.
