Abstract

This study is a field study conducted on the village imams belong to Kayseri Pınarbaşı Branch of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and individuals residing in çaybaşı Village and Şabanlı Village in Pınarbaşı District. In this study, the determinants of the occupational choices of the village imams and the criteria that determine the level of professional competence perception and their perceptions about their professional satisfaction levels were determined. In addition, professional proficiency levels of village imams were examined from a community perspective. Certain inferences are tried to be reached from a number of descriptions related to the mentioned situations. The perception of professional competence and satisfaction was examined in terms of variables. The impact of the physical and sociocultural structure of the settlement on the professional life of the village imams was examined and it was observed that being a rural settlement area was an important factor affecting occupational life. It is possible to say that the village imams have a certain search and deficiency in order to be successful in the profession.
