Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the Montessori education perception of the parents of children attending Montessori education. Parents were interviewed in Montessori schools and 25 parents participated in the study on a voluntary basis. The data were collected by the “Form of Opinions of Parents about Montessori Education” which was developed by the researchers. Findings show that parents have information about Montessori education from schools, friends and relatives and they chose Montessori education because they think that this education is unique and different from traditional education. Parents also report that Montessori education provide their children the abilities to do their own work, to be regular and to prepare for life. They were mostly recognize mathematics materials and daily life materials, and majority of them satisfied with peer education. Parents think that children will be self-confident in the future and consider Montessori education as applicable in primary school program. Overall study findings revealed that parents have positive perception of Montessori education.
