Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine anthropometric properties of athletes in bicycle, handball and ballet branches where lower extremity is used predominantly and to compare the distribution rates of athletes with muscle fibril type. The sample consisted of 9 handball players 10 ballerinas and 9 cyclists. The athletes performed a total of 50 knee extension and flexion at 180 degrees/s and 5 mm/s for determination of fibril types. In order to determine the difference between the groups, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey HSD post-hoc test were used to determine the difference between the groups and the significance level was determined p˂0,05. As a result of the analysis; FT: [F (2,25) = 15.47; p;, 05] and ST: [F (2,25) = 8,56; p., 05] parameters. As a result of post-hoc analysis, significant difference in FT was found between handball (57,23 ± 8,32) and bicycle (38,33 ± 11,00) and ballet (41,90 ± 12,48) branches; The difference in ST was found between handball (42,76 ± 8,32) and ballet (58,10 ± 12,48) and bicycle (61,68 ± 11,00) branches. In conclusion, it can be said that the general characteristic structures of the branches are effective on the lower extremity fibril distribution rates of the athletes and they differ from each other in this respect.
