Abstract

Although the United Nations was established with the aim of helping and cooperating internationally, it completed the necessary organization in the field of health with WHO which has become an expert body. WHO has developed international health policies; activities on basic health services such as mother-child health, vaccination programs, and environmental health. However, in time, the organization has changed its function by cooperating with other actors. The largest financial provider of the organization within the member state is the United States. Countries that provide the most financial support increase their political control over WHO and directs WHO in line with their own interests. In addition to the pressures of multinational corporations, there are direct sanctions on the WHO. For example, the United States has been directing UN policies as a permanent member of the UN Security Council; it also intervenes in specialization organizations and policies. The Assembly, which is the policymaker of the WHO and which is composed of the Ministers of Health of the member states, has the right to be disarmed by the permanent members of the UN. The United States, a permanent member of the UN, intervenes in the application to the UN and specialized agencies; otherwise, the sanctions on cutting the financial support to the UN. The study will focus on the role of the UN in health policies and recommendations on how to increase the function of WHO.
