Abstract

The installation art, which emerged in 1960s, is one of the most effective expression languages of contemporary art. In the art of installation, space differs depending on the perception and vision of the viewer as well as the information that the viewer carries. It is a fact that space is incorporated into art as well as the transformation of art from concept to form. While the space is the object of thought and not vision, it is a mental process that has survived to the present day with the existence of humanity. From the 1960s to the present day, the installation art has a great influence on the ceramic art in the world and in our country. In the 1970s, mentality of questioning art without referring to imitation in Turkish art, created major changes and with installation, this mentality became one of the self-expression methods for ceramic artists, showed increment during late 1980s. The aim of this research is not to redefine the definition of the installation art starting from the’ 60s but to examine its impact on ceramic art and artists in our country and in the world.
