Abstract

This paper focuses on the change of otçu göçü tradition Harşit valley since 1950. Harşit valley situated in Northeastern Turkey and divided by two cities: Giresun and Gümüşhane. Valley people’s main sources of income was agriculture and husbandry, but this economy went a rapid change in last eighty years. The main question of the research is how rapid socio-economic change affected otçu göçü tradition in last eighty years? In conclusion, modern life style broke the bond between nature and local people. Thus, they alienated to otçu göçü tradition. This led to hold alternative fests by Shore townships in township centers. These shore fests are as crowded as pasture fests and takes especially young generation’s attention. Consequently, it seems that fest issue divided Black Sea again in coastal and inland regions.
