Abstract

The current research aimed to explore the preservice teachers’ views on literature circles based on their experiences. The research used case study which is one of the qualitative research methods. A total of 21 preservice teachers constituted the research sample. 18 literature activities occurred during nine months and the preservice teachers read 18 books. One-to-one qualitative interviews were employed to collect the data. The interviews appeared after each six literature circles. In order to see longitudinal change of the preservice teachers’ views, each data obtained from the interview sessions was analyzed separately. Based on the data, three themes including individual contribution, social contribution, and reading perspective were occurred. The preservice teachers believed that literature circles make positive contributions to them and society. Additionally, they told that their perceptions relate to reading has changed a lot.
