Abstract

Significant alterations took shape in Ottoman starting from the second half of 16th century. Such continental alterations resulted significant switch in traditional consumption and entertainment habits in Ottoman. In addition to economic stress as a result of successive wars, stuff of daily life such as European furniture and decoration and also fashion resulted an increase in waste for luxury. This situation resulted a strong impression in Ottoman social life. Rise in the use of continental stuff induced etiquette life style in Ottoman and so culture of administrative staff, townie and elite class reshaped. This rise in western wannabe resulted an action-reaction reflex in ulama and so a habit of opposition for modernity took place. This study aimed to discuss entertainment habits and use of printing house in consideration of depression in Ottoman economy.
