Abstract

Nowadays, energy demand is growing in parallel with the population of the whole world and it is one of the most important factors of economic and social development. Unlike other sector products, energy is an input which is impossible to be abandoned in almost all of the processes required for the continuation of social life. In this context, energy supply security emerges and this situation becomes an indispensable element of the national and international security of the countries. For this reason, governments implement many different public policies in the energy field in cooperation with industry actors. Turkey is a country that developed day by day in economic and social terms and thus increases its economic and social demands. Undoubtedly, one of the inputs which has the most increased demand is energy. One of the main axes of the sustainability of economic development and of meeting the increasing demand is the investments in the field of energy which is one of the basic needs of production and public policies which have recently been put into practice. The main purpose of this paper is to examine Turkey's energy policies as a field of public policy. Initially, the concept of public policy will be examined and the public policy that Turkey puts into practice in the field of energy will be discussed. Lastly, the energy demand of Turkey and appearance of it will be evaluated.
