ANXIETY, DEPRESSION AND MARITAL ADJUSTMENT AMONG WOMAN DIAGNOSED WITH UNEXPLAINED INFERTILITY

Abstract

In this study, women with unexplaine dinfertility were examined in terms of their depressive and anxiety symptoms by comparing women with explained and diagnosed as infertility. The data obtained from the participants were examined statistically. For this study, 67 women who are currently in fertility treatment in Marmara University Educationand Research Hospital were recruited. Answers of 60 participants were valid for research. As data collection procedure, self-report measurement in struments including Beck Depression Inventory, Spielberg AnxietyScale, and Locke & Wallace Marital Adjustment Scale were used. 30 of the participants were diagnosed as having unexplained infertility, where as 30 of the participants were diagnosed as infertile. Based on the data collected from the participants through the self-report in struments, the comparison of the scores of these two groups was provided. Based on the results of the study, group including women with unexplained infertility reported high depressive and anxiety scores than women diagnosed as infertile. Additionally, correlation among subtests of Locke & Wallace Marital Adjustment Scale was not found as statistically significant based on the scores of these two groups.
