Abstract

Hand-wovens dated back to different civilizations of Anatolia in which we live for centuries and they are the components which reflect our culture in the best way. During the Ottoman reign villagers of Anatolia met their needs with weaving fabrics in hand looms. Overalls, which are the important part of women clothing in Simav, are woven in Simav and its districts to satisfy the needs of people. Nowadays, weaving in hand looms has already vanished, Loom Master Mehmet İmir is one of the few survivers who is keeping loom art alive despite being at the age of 86. In this study, pattern, design and composition characteristics of hand woven overall that is a vital part of traditional women clothing in Simav are expressed and information is given about Loom Master Mehmet Imir who is weaving these overalls.
