Especially when taken as east-west axis, it can be seen serious differences between the east and west of Turkey. There is a west in which industry improves intensely and an east in the other side in which industrialization is insufficient, which has made development of the country unbalanced. The way of overall development of a country depends on a socio-economic integration. Theories, policies and models in regional development starting to attract in 1930s have been launched especially with starting the development economy to be studied by various societies after World War II. In this paper, initially information about concepts such as region and regional development has been given. In addition to that potential sources of Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) have been analyzed with the help of economic data by examining the project generally. After that the place of Adıyaman province in regional development located in regional of GAP has been dealt and its current potential has been evaluated. Current situation of the Adıyaman has been analyzed in various matters by supporting with various data and comprehensive information has been given about economic development level. Then the paper has been finished with solution proposals about GAP and Adıyaman. The work is aimed to bring Adıyaman to a further development level and with this purpose to increase success of GAP and thus to contribute to overall development of the country.},author={Ferhat APAYDIN},year={2018},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science}}
