Abstract

Climate change, as a reality that we constantly experience the impacts of, has been introduced into the international political agenda by United Nations with numerous legal regulations and actions. However, many problems such as the conflict in the negotiation process of the developed and developing country priorities, the desire to be a hegemonic power, objections to differentiation of responsibilities, and reluctance to undertake commitments have caused these efforts to be interrupted. Hence, on the basis of climate justice what is expected from the United Nations policies is to ensure the sustainability of the planet by using diplomatic skills. This policy expectation also implies the necessity of urgently fulfilling the effects of global warming, especially for underdeveloped countries and small island states that have been deeply affected. The main purpose of this article is to examine and evaluate the United Nations' policies and processes regarding global climate change. The study will discuss the direction and success of the vision by examining developments carried out internationally by the United Nations on climate change in a chronological course.
