EXAMINATION OF THE CREATIVITY LEVELS OF SOME STUDENTS STUDYING AT KOCAELİ UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS

Abstract

In the changing world, now it has become a necessity for individuals to be equipped with skills to adapt to new situations. For this reason, it is necessary for every country to raise individuals who will carry themselves to the coming centuries, who will be able to use the information properly, produce information, think and perceive, cope with the problems and produce different solutions in a short time in the face of increasing problems. The purpose of this research is to examine the creativity levels of the students in Kocaeli University School of Physical Education and Sports. A total of 402 students were participated in the survey, 48 males- 52 females from the Sports Management Department, 49 males- 51 females from the recreation department, 62 males- 38 females from the Department of Physical Education and Sports and 54 males- 48 females from the Department of Physical Education and Sports. As a data collection tool, "How Much Creative Are You?" developed by Raudsepp (1977) adapted to Turkish by Çoban (1999) scale was used. After the descriptive statistics were applied in the SPSS 19.0 package program (mean, standard deviation, frequency), the obtained data were used the Independent T test and One Way Anova test and the differences between the groups were determined. According to the findings, there is difference between recreation department and physical education and sports department which there was a significant difference between male and female students in the in terms of creativity level (p <0.05). The students who are studying in the recreation department have reached the highest level of creativity then the students in the other departments. The reason of this is the diversity of content in the curriculum of the department.
