Abstract

This study focuses on compound verbs which are very controversial in defining and classifying in Turkish language. In this research, compund verbs with auxiliary verbs ėt-, eyle- and ḳıl- are explicated. Compound verbs are mostly consisted of a substantive and an auxiliary verb in 13-14th century Old Anatolian Turkish texts whereas in some cases the phrase substantive or auxialiary verb participate the compound verb. The substantive, first component of the compound verb, could include handiadyoins, conjunctional phrase, prepositional phrase and noun phrases. In very few examples auxiliary verb is a phrase. In this research phrases forming compound verbs with auxiliary verbs ėt-, eyle-, ḳıl- in 13-14th century Old Anatolian Turkish texts and their etymologic, morphologic, syntactic and semantic properties will be examined.
