Abstract

In this research, it is aimed to examine the relationship between attachment styles, quality of life and demographic characteristics of adult individuals. The sample of the research consists of 233 adult individuals, aged between 18 and 65 years, with a total of 120 females and 113 males. Demographic Information Form prepared by the researcher was used for socio-demographic information in the collection of data used in the study. The "Relationship Scale Questionnaire" and the "SF-36 Quality of Life Scale" were applied to determine participants' attachment styles (safe, fearful, indifferent, obsessive) to volunteer-based participants. According to the results obtained from the research, it was determined that female individuals developed more Secure Attachment Style than male individuals and their life quality was higher due to Social Function sub-dimension. Significant differences were also found between the ages of the individuals and the attachment styles. It was determined that there was no meaningful relationship between the variables of fearful-avoidant attachment, secure attachment, anxious-preoccupied attachment and dismissive-avoidant attachment and Quality of Life scores in the sample group. This research, which is discussed in the context of literature and attachment theories, provides data on the effects of attachment styles of adult individuals on quality of life.
