Abstract

The purpose of this research is to encourage teachers that teach Turkish as a foreign language to use literary works to explain grammar lessons and teach new words and to show examples of adjectives and types of adjectives that can be used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language by detecting and classifying adjectives which are located in Ömer Seyfettin’s two stories. Content analysis is the method which is used in this qualitative research. Ömer Seyfettin’s stories represent universe and Ömer Seyfettin’s two stories named “İlk Cinayet” and “And” represent sample of this research. These stories were chosen by purposive sampling. Some of the results of this research are that there are many adjectives in these stories, that majority of those adjectives are descriptive adjectives and that there are many examples of “bir” as quantitative and distributive adjective. Also, some suggestions related to developing materials were given in this research.
