Abstract

Apple is one of the fruits that come to mind first among others in Turkey. Apple is the second most produced fruit just after grapes in Turkey. In spite of many apple varieties, Starking and Golden are the most produced varieties in Turkey. This study aimed to determine apple consumption preferences of the households living in the central districts of Erzurum Province. The sampling size of the study was determined using Unclustered Probability Sampling Method. These surveys were analyzed by OLS Method in Limdep 5.0 computer software. 400 individuals selected based on 2017-2018 age and gender data of Turkey from Palandoken, Yakutiye, and Aziziye districts considered to represent Erzurum province were face-to-face interviewed. The socio-economic and demographic factors affecting consumer preferences for apple varieties such as Golden, Starking, Amasya, Granny Smith, Gala, and Fuji were investigated. As a result, consumer satisfaction can be increased in considering the apple varieties consumers have chosen and the economic, social and demographic characteristics of them.
