Abstract

Strengthening The Vocational Education and Training System Project (SVET) with the competency based modular curriculum has been implemented in the vocational high schools all around the country since 2006-2007 academic year. In this research, it was aimed to bring together and review studies regarding the evaluation of the modular curriculum. Accordingly, a total of 38 studies carried out between 2006 and 2017 were examined in terms of certain categories (publication date, applied research methods and techniques, utilized data collection tools, etc.). Results revealed that the majority of these studies were made up of graduate theses and they were concentrated on the years between 2008 and 2010. It is determined that among the research models, the survey model was widely used; mostly questionnaires, generally related to the research topics, prepared by researchers were used as a data collection tool; and sample groups formed by only teachers were in the majority. It is realized that in these researches, general program evaluation of the modular curriculum has been implemented intensively. In addition, within the scope of studies, teachers, students and employers have lack of sufficient information about the project; physical deficiencies; the incompatibility of the student passing/retention system and the modular curriculum; and negative feedback regarding the quality of modules are among the findings.
