Abstract

Harput is located on south of the high mass named "Harput Plateu", south of the Upper Firat Part of Eastern Anatolia Region. Castle, which have a very strategical location, is hosted many civilizations from the Urartu Era. Excavations in Harput Castle was started in between 2005 and 2009 years by Prof. Dr. Veli Sevin. After that, excavations started again in 2014 by headshipment of Prof. Dr. İsmail Aytaç and continues nowadays. As a raw material, bone is commonly used in every historical era since Paleolitic Period because its is an easily processing and founding nature. Which began very pritimitive ways in Lower Paleolitic period, using of bone tools has very advanced in Ancient Ages and people start making it on workbenches and ateliers. In this paper, 12 bone artifact analyzed that was found in different sections of Harput Inner Castle excavations, between 2015 - 2017. The analyzed artifacts is 4 pin, a bodkin, 2 bone comb, a spindle whorl, a bone dice, and 3 game stamp. Firstly in this work, structure of bone used as raw material and bone artifact production stages examined. After that, foundings grouped and interpreted. And finally, a catalogue for artifacts created and general informations, status, definitions, sources for comparing another artifacts added in detailed and apart from main text. Survey and photographs added in paper just because make this research more understandable. Examined artifacts we date back to different eras of, Byzantine and Ottoman.
