TRACES OF PANCHATANTRA IN TURKISH PROVERBS: REFLECTIONS IN ANCIENT MIDDLE EASTERN AND ASIAN LANGUAGES TÜRK ATASÖZÜ KAYNAKLARINDA PANÇATANTRA ESİNTİLERİ:KADİM ORTA DOĞU VE ASYA DİLLERİNDEKİ YANSIMALARI
Our folkloric identities, which we reflect as social individuals, are in essence our atavistic cultural legacies that still continue their thousands of years of journey. Although traditions and customs shaped up by beliefs and cultural patterns may have exhibited some analytical variations at different ages owing to new interpretations in science, art and literature, it has been the proverbs that have undergone the least changes in this process. Apart from being a means for people from different communities to get to know each other, they are also regarded as scientific data that demonstrate linguistic interactions among communities. In this study, an argument has been proposed maintaining that there is connection between Kelile and Dimne, or in its original title Panchatantra, and Orkhon Inscriptions, Oghuzname, Kutadgu Bilig, Dīvān-ı Lûgati’t-Turk and Kitab-ıAtalar. This assumption, which we believe took place via the Indian tales, coincide at one point with Indology, which contends that the source of tales is India. In addition to this assumption proposed by us, some reflections or manifestations in proverbs in Tamil and Malayalam languages, which members of the Dravidian language family which related to ancient Middle Eastern languages of Elamite and Sumerian; in Sanskrit, Hindi, Marathi and Urdu languages which belong to the Indo-European family; and in Malay, language of Indonesia, Japanese, Chinese and Arabic languages have also been shown in this study.
