Abstract

The novels ‘Yaban’ and ‘Ankara’ telling pre and post Independence War by Yakup Kadri who tries to reflect the changes observed in Turkish society since the Reform, are two Works completing each other. The artist having left the genres like theatre, story, essay started writing novels and became interested in socialism since 1920 had similiarities between his art conception and world view. Especially his travels in Anatolia with Tetkik-i Mezalim Heyeti, became the substructure of socialist Works which start with ‘Yaban’ and stories which which are the forerunners of novels. The first of these works focusing on the political and social atmosphere of the period when it was written is the novel of a searching, the second one is the novel of a foundation. In ‘Yaban’ Ahmet Celal who reflects the scary reality of people who were ignored for centuries, experiences the surprise for not finding the signs of a new life, is angry with those who find thid new life and don’t appreciate this. Yaban and Ankara when looked with the diaological method in which Bahtin is conceptualised are like two works speaking to each other. Search for a new life which starts with Ahmet Celal in ‘Yaban’, will continue with Neşet Sabit in the novel of Ankara, will turn to hope with the change of Selma and will become concrete with the character of Yıldız. Therefore, the revenge of people who were lost in ‘Yaban’ will be taken with the enthusiasm of the young people who attend the celebrations of Republic.
