Abstract

It is a small documentary image of historical characteristics of the miniature art period, documenting its lifestyle and reflecting traditions. The transfer of the traditions of the Ottoman period to future generations has also been thanks to miniatures. There are many miniatures with heavy visual qualities on the subject of the sultan's throne, the acceptance ceremonies of the prisoners, the sunnah festivals of the princes, religious ceremonies and daily hayat stages. When the miniatures of this period are examined, it is seen that the motifs, designs and superficial ornaments reflecting the traditional features are sampled in abundance. It turns out that each form that makes up the compositions is arranged with a different motif. Wood, glass, fabric, architectural areas, sky and ground areas are decorated with motifs to the finest detail. In this study, early period Ottoman miniature artist Matrakçı Nasuh, Nakkaş Osman, who gave works with classical period features, and a miniature sample of Levni's studies which expresses the characteristics of westernization period clearly.
