Abstract

All kinds of positive or negative developments in social, cultural, political and economic areas have affected the literature and ideas in time. These changes make it possible to identify some movements or ideologies in terms of social aspects. Artists and intellectuals have adopted the movements that affect their ideas and minds, which suit their ideology of life and art. Humanism, which respects human existence, dignity and nationality, is a significant movement that influences Turkish culture and literature during the Republican Period. The Translation Bureau was established by Hasan Ali Yücel, the Minister of National Education during İnönü Era, and adapted the modern western works to the Turkish language and adopted the humanist approach in the cultural development. Orhan Veli held the leading position in the Garip movement, which is one of the turning points of the Turkish poetry. He created a poetic language by bringing innovations to the poetry in terms of form and substance and adopting the humanistic approach in the years that he worked in the Translation Bureau, and he maintained his influence until today.
