SERIAL FORMS AND SONATAS IN THE SECOND HALF OF 20TH CENTURY RUSSIAN MUSIC: D.D. SHOSTAKOVICH ECOLE 20. YÜZYIL İKİNCİ YARISINDA RUS MÜZİĞİNDE SERİ FORMLAR VE RUS MÜZİĞİNDE SONATLAR: D.D. SHOSTAKOVİCH EKOLÜ
This article emphasizes the need for the formation of an intellectual frame of mind to ensure the correct understanding and interpretation of 20th century modern music and Russian modern music by piano performers; the comprehension of performance and interpretation techniques as required by the characteristics of the age in question, and the collaboration of music with other disciplines. Literature review for this study consisted of the detailed review of articles, books and written online sources. The piano works by D.D. Shostakovich and the importance of his role in creativity have been examined in addition to the effect of Shostakovich on the works of his successors Galina Ustvolskaya and Boris Tishchenko, and the characteristics of their unique creativity. There is very limited scientific publication on this subject in Turkish music literature. This article should help young musicians to interpret meaningfully the works composed in the second half on the 20th century, and to understand the importance of modern world music.
